LGBTQ+ Advocates warn that such requirements will increase the costs of insurance companies and lead to many people stop covering gender-affirming care. Destruction is extremely rare.

Last week, the Texas House passed Senate Bill 1257. It has already passed the Senate and is awaiting the signature of anti-LGBTQ+ Republican government Greg Abbott.

“I heard that the Texans are undergoing gender transition treatment with insurance coverage, but were later denied coverage while dealing with the negative effects,” said Jeff Leach, a Republican lawmaker who sponsored the Texas bill. Wera Report.

Brad Pritchett, interim CEO of Equality Texas, spoke at a rally on the bill, calling it a “tax on the existence of trans.”

Austin resident Corey Thompson testified against the measure early in the legislative meeting. “Requiring little-known and limitless liability for possible negative consequences from transhealth care actually prevents most insurers from covering care,” she added, “which could “induce an overabundance of plans to ensure transhealth care.”

Democrat Jean Wu, who opposed the bill, said it was a backdoor way to ban gender-affirming care for trans adults. The state has already banned it for transminers. He also noted that regrets about the transition are rare. One study shows that only about 1% of patients regret it. “There’s a high rate of regret with any other type of surgery,” he said.

In Pennsylvania, Republican Sen. Michelle Brooks said she would propose laws that immediately require dransition’s compensation. “There should be no disagreement in providing access to injury care for those who need it regardless of their views on transgender medications or surgery,” she wrote Thursday. Note to her fellow senators. “If the state or private payer provides funding, they also need to fund the reversal.”

She quoted A Recent papers It cites a study from the US Department of Health and Human Services that has shifted from 5% to 25% of transition regret. The report argues that the issue of drans humiliation is “minused by claims that drans humiliation and low regret rates. In fact, the drans humiliation rate is unknown.” But HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is anti-trans, so is his boss, Donald Trump.

A similar bill was proposed in Florida last year, but it did not pass.
