Joey King, who plays the lead role of Tully Youngblood, revealed that she’s been a fan of the books since she was 11. “I always had a dream that one day I’d get to play Tully Youngblood,” she said. Fast forward to now, and she not only stars in the film, but also serves as an executive producer.

Laverne Cox embraces her “badass era”

She joked, “If I get typecast as a character like this for the next 10 years, I’m OK with that.”
Playing Dr. Cable allowed Laverne to explore a more complex character than meets the eye. “In the book, she’s pure villain, but in the film, I wanted to give her more depth,” Laverne explained. She’s clearly had a blast stepping into her “baddie era,” and we can’t wait to see her take on this complex role.
Keith Powers and Chase Stokes talk friendship and identity
Chase Stokes and Keith Powers, who play Tully’s friends in the film, said they’re excited to bring this futuristic story to audiences in 2024. Keith, who has a younger brother, reflected on how relevant the story is to the present day: “It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of something like this… [young people] I want them to know that they are enough and to value who they are,” he said.
Chase, who plays Peris, Tully’s childhood friend who has a complex storyline, enjoyed exploring the duality of his character. “Playing these two contrasts is always fun and it’s totally different from anything I’ve done before,” Chase added.
Brianne Chew brings Shay to life
Brianne Chew brings to life the rebellious Shay, beloved by fans of the book for her boldness and bravery. “Shay is such a brave character… I felt like I had a big role to play,” Brianne admitted. She praised Shay’s curiosity and her tendency to question everything around her. “She was an inspiration to me and I loved her in the book,” Brianne said with a smile.
