Laura and Jill traveled across the country to elope in Olympic National Park. When we first spoke, they knew they wanted to experience the many facets of the Pacific Northwest region – forests, waterfalls, and ocean – but also that they wanted to keep their day simple and focus on truly enjoying the place and the moment together.
We quietly began our elopement day at their cabin, where they sat quietly together, writing their vows, and helping each other get dressed.
We then headed to our first destination, chasing waterfalls. One of the things that made me really happy that day was seeing Laura and Jill marvel at the size of the trees here. And I realized that I’d grown so used to the forest, but I had a new appreciation for it. It was really wonderful to see the forest in a new light through these two.
After spending plenty of time amongst the trees and waterfalls, we headed down to the ocean. Upon arrival, they enjoyed a fantastic meal with an incredible view, then put on their boutonnieres and headed down to the beach to find a location for the ceremony.
As the sun went down, the couple exchanged vows while the waves crashed on the shore, then they held hands, exchanged vows, and were married. Everyone (including me) cried happy tears.
Of course, the day ended with more exploration. The show Mother Nature put on for us was truly spectacular. The brooding skies, dramatic waves, and wild landscapes all spoke to the energy of the Northwest Pacific. We couldn’t have asked for more. As the skies darkened, Laura and Jill had their first dance, illuminated only by a lantern and a few twinkle lights. It was a sweet and serene end to an unforgettable day.
