A Manchester laser clinic has slashed its prices for Harry Potter-themed tattoo removal by 50 per cent in a protest against JK Rowling’s views on the transgender community.
Rowling first faced criticism for her views in 2019. when she expressed her support To “gender critical” campaigner Maya Forstater.
Celebrities who continue to profit from the brand, most recently actress Keira Knightley, have come under fire for failing to criticize or speaking out against the author, who writes crime novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
Manchester Laser NQ, currently based inside Swan Street tattoo parlor The Old Vault, announced the promotion on Instagram, saying the Wizarding World series had been “ruined” for many fans.

“About 16 percent of people regret getting a tattoo. less than 1 percent “People regret their gender reassignment surgeries, and 100 percent of queer people regret their Harry Potter tattoos (that last statistic has not been fact-checked),” the post said.
“So we’re offering 50 percent off Harry Potter-themed tattoo removal for anyone. Transgender rights are human rights.”
In an interview with attitudeManager Elle said: ‘Like many queer people, I loved Harry Potter when I was young, but the women who wrote it just took away the magic.
“I know there are a lot of people walking around with HP tattoos that they no longer want or even feel embarrassed about. I wanted to make it a little easier to remove them.”
In May, guide and founder of Edinburgh Street Historians Fraser Horne told PinkNews that the decision to cancel Harry Potter tours in the capital was “not an easy decision, but it was necessary”.
