To celebrate its pridemance, the city illuminated its iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign in rainbow colors.
The sign, “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada,” is located south of the city centre and west of Harry Reed International Airport, and is one of Clark County’s most iconic landmarks.
To mark the county’s pridemand, county commissioner Justin Jones and representatives from the Southern Nevada LGBTQ Center were present, illuminated on June 10th and October 10th.
“We’re not just celebrating our pridemance,” Jones told local news networks. News 3.
“We make sure that Clark County is built on the principles that everyone belongs to. Our LGBT community is not only a contribution to our success, it is our success.
“They are our entrepreneurs, our artists, our healthcare workers, our teachers, our neighbors, and our friends.”
The Las Vegas Pride Instagram account shared a video of the moment the lights were turned over, writing, “Welcome to the amazing Las Vegas Nevada sign is now a rainbow in honor of Pride Month.”
Cast of Rupaul’s drag racing Also recently visited the Las Vegas sign, and Top 5 contestant Susie Tote shared that the cast experienced “hate crimes” while they were there.
US Pride Month appears to be under the administration this year with Donald Trump as president.
Some companies continue as usual, releasing their annual Pride Collection despite DEI oppression, but many have either withdrawn from sponsorships or have not even been able to mark Pride Month at all.
For example, four days after Trump’s inauguration, Target announced that it plans to eliminate employment targets for minority employees, NYC Pride announced it had lost multiple major sponsors this year, and Runescape’s developers were accused of “catering to American monasteries” by holding a Pride Month event.
