Donald Trump’s former adviser Kellyanne Conway suggested that the MAGA president’s critics, including lesbian cartoonist Rosie O’Donnell, need “hugs, husbands, and dogs” to overcome so-called “Trump derangement syndrome.”
Conway is a co-host on FOX News. The Fivemade the comments in reference to a TikTok video O’Donnell posted about the Republican leader, in which she said Trump should be removed from office under the 25th Amendment and called him a “blob.”
“We have to do it now, before the November election,” O’Donnell said in a long video. “Because we know he’s going to do everything he can to start a war and use that war as an excuse to declare no elections. We need to stop him.”
O’Donnell has long been a vocal critic of Trump and revealed in March that due to domestic political turmoil, he no longer lives in the United States and moved to Ireland in January, days before Trump’s inauguration.
“Is there no one who loves you?” Conway asked O’Donnell in response to the video, as quoted defender.
“What you need is a hug, a husband, a hobby, a dog,” the host continued. “Please ask for help.”
Conway didn’t seem to know, or perhaps didn’t care, that O’Donnell was an open lesbian who was married to two women.
O’Donnell came out as a lesbian in 2002, announcing on an ovarian cancer research grant: “I’m a dyke!…I don’t understand why people make such a fuss about gay people….People are confused and shocked, as if this is some major revelation to anyone.”
Conway went on to describe the comic in his Fox News segment as a “slob that calls people lumps” and claimed that he suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The term is increasingly used by conservatives to describe criticism of the president as illogical.
“By the way, she moved to Ireland and never moved on. That’s the problem,” Ms Conway said. “It’s toxic, chaotic and sometimes scary.
“But I’ll tell you, a lot of Democrats don’t like that. They feel like if their message is just ‘Trump, Trump, Trump,’ they’re going to lose in 2028.”
