John Lithgow Says J.K. Rowling’s Views Have Been ‘Misrepresented’ Amid ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot

John Lithgow, who stars as Dumbledore in the newly released trailer, recently said: new yorker Harry Potter author JK Rowling has claimed that her views on trans issues have been “misrepresented”, leaving many fans dissatisfied with her stance.

Previously, the actor disagreed with Rowling’s views, calling her position “inexplicable” and claiming that Rowling nearly quit the project over it. He told the New York Times that he was hurt by the reaction to his casting and ultimately felt the series was “clearly siding with the angels against intolerance and bigotry.”

However, in his recent comments, new yorker radio hourLithgow C.All of Rowling’s comments have been “distorted and misrepresented.” Although she disagreed with some of her comments, she added that the opportunity to take on the iconic role ultimately outweighed the hesitation.

“There was everything about this job and job security that was so appealing even in later years. You can’t ignore those issues,” Lithgow said. “The reasons for doing so were far stronger than the reasons for protesting Rowling’s actions and words.

“The other good thing about the Harry Potter project is the people who worked on it themselves. Francesca Gardiner and Mark Myrod have an extraordinary partnership. Francesca…she convinced me. She was a big reason why I took on this project.”

Mr Lithgow also revealed that he had been advised by others to withdraw from the project. “I was encouraged to leave, but that was not my intention,” he said.

He said he “disagrees with much of it,” but reiterated his position, adding: “I think much of it has been distorted and misrepresented. And she’s doubling down on it at her own expense.”

Lithgow also said she was “surprised and disappointed” by the tone of Rowling’s social media posts, but stressed that Rowling had no direct role in the decision to join the series.

“I get angry when people object to my involvement in this, but I see no trace of transphobic sensibilities in the ‘Potter’ canon,” he added. “She wrote this meditation on kindness and acceptance, and Dumbledore is a beautiful role.”

The comments came as HBO began rolling out the show. harry potter The reboot will see Lithgow’s first appearance as Dumbledore, already featured in a newly released trailer. Rowling remains attached to the series as an executive producer and continues to generate buzz among fans as the project moves towards its Christmas debut.
