It Ends with Us fans react to Ethel Cain’s song being used

“It Ends With Us” has been criticized for using an inappropriate song by transgender artist Ethel Kane in the opening minutes. (JoJo Wilden/Sony Pictures Entertainment, Kane’s daughter)

A new film is causing confusion by playing transgender artist Ethel Kane’s cannibalism-themed song “Strangers” in the opening minutes.

It Ends With Usa drama starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (who also directed), is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel about domestic violence.

But the film has also been plagued by behind-the-scenes drama.

There have been rumors of a rift between the two stars, as well as controversy over the resurfaced footage of Lively in 2016 hinting at a pregnancy for the journalist, and more recently, several interviews (which have also resurfaced) in which Lively hinted at a pregnancy. gossip girl Star uses transphobic slurs.

So why not add another one to the pile?

Kane’s song details the tragic end of the “Ethel Kane” character on the 2022 album. Pastor’s DaughterThis voice can be heard as soon as the film begins.

The song is set in the aftermath of Ethel’s death and focuses on album rival and ex-lover Isaiah eating her body, with lyrics including “devouring it like smoked cowhide/Funny thing, I never thought I was tough.”

It’s no wonder that fans were a little surprised when they heard this song.

“Please don’t tell me they’re using Ethel Kane’s ‘Strangers’. It pisses me off,” one viewer wrote.

Another person said: It Ends With Us “The trailer, which uses songs from an Ethel Kane album, literally deals with themes of religious trauma, murder and cannibalism. What on earth is this movie about?”
