I get it – Sensel is a difficult drug to swallow. Especially when you’re messing around with something like classic DCOM Funny Friday. How do you begin to recreate the magic that you felt as you watched Pink Slip perform in my bedroom for the first time?
Well, 20 years from now… FREEKY Friday I actually pulled it apart. And it’s pretty good. Read it – not a big spoiler, we swear.
Jamie Lee Curtis It will return as a confused, lovable heart FREEKY Fridaygoing back to Tess Coleman’s blazer (and ultimately the reverse of the teenager) and like she never left. She is absolutely indifferent in the best way, pinning the sequel with warmth, wit and its distinctive Curtis glow. She was behind almost every laughing moment in the film, but I didn’t do that otherwise.
Lindsay Lohanin the meantime, that’s right Amazing. She doesn’t just bring in the locker teen Anna The energy to adulthood has become easier, but the film drops enough nods to her 2000s filmography to scream millennials. from Average girl In Parent trapEaster Egg is a love letter to the Rohanassance.
Julia Butter, on the other hand, is fascinated as Harper Coleman. She shed tears at some of her emotional moments. Seriously, hold your mother tightly. Manny Jacinto is a hot new love interest (and does the title justice). Sofia Hammonds plays an angry new stepdaughter, bringing just the right amount of teenage energy into the mix.
And the last one absolutely In particular, Jake is back. That’s right–Chad Michael Murray Will you come back and crush me on my boyfriend? He is still very alive. Honestly, bringing him back might have been the cleverest decision they’ve made. His scene with Curtis is the best in the film. Funny, heartfelt, and just the right amount of nasty nostalgia. How many times can you say nostalgia?
How strange is Queer? FREEKY Friday?
There is very One scene’s notable pride flag – yes, it’s in a chaotic food fight, but the film itself isn’t explicitly odd. That said, it is extremely interesting, heart-warming and clearly loved by fans who grew up in the original.
The film cleverly nods to the 2003 version. Yes, there’s new fortune, fresh teen drama, and another love interest of disappointment. The generational twist adds a new layer of chaos, but it works because the film never tries to outdo the original. Instead, celebrate it.
Finally, FREEKY Friday Leaning on the absurdity, embrace the legacy and offer a delicious, strange and pleasant sequel. Catch it at the theatre on August 8th.
