The Fundamentalist Church in Indianapolis defends the June 29th sermon. In this sermon, a lay preacher prayed to the congregation that LGBTQ people would die, suggesting that they commit suicide.
Comments provided by Stephen Falco in “The Night of Male Sermons” at Sure Foundation Baptist Church included multiple homophobic slander, biblical references, Pride Month, LGBTQ rights, and rants against what he called “aversion” and “wicked” behaviour. Indianapolis Star.
“Why do I hate sodomite, why do I hate f**** ts? Because they attack kids,” Falco yelled in the sermon. “They are coming after your kids. They are attacking them today not only in schools but in public places, and they are proud of it!
“There’s nothing I’m proud to be an AF **** T,” continued Falco. “You should blow yourself into the head behind your head. You’re so disgusting.” He characterizes LGBTQ people as a threat to children, implying that they are pedophiles or attempts to “groom” them.
The video was then deleted for breaching YouTube’s terms of service.
The sermon attracted criticism from the broader Indianapolis community, particularly from progressive individuals and organizations.
“Such messages are not only theologically irresponsible, but also idyllically dangerous,” Indianapolis clergyman, a coalition of pastors and other related religious followers, told WishTV that they are a coalition of other related religious followers that fight against forms of injustice, racism, ageism, classism and sexism. “The pulpit should not be used as a weapon to dehumanize, separate or incite fear.”
The organization rebutted in the Biblical poems of the Baptist Church, stating that the gospel is for everyone, and rejected the idea that LGBTQ individuals are beyond God’s reach, grace, or redemption.
“True sacred is not about people we don’t like, it’s about how we love,” the group’s statement read. “We assert that sin exists in all of us, and we also assert that God’s grace extends to all of us.”
On Facebook on July 3rd postlead preacher Justin Zon reaffirmed the church’s beliefs reflected in Falco’s sermons.
“I will not apologise for preaching God’s Word,” Zhong wrote. “I will not apologise for stating the facts. I will not negotiate with terrorists. Among them, the Lgbthiv crowd is full of domestic terrorists. The Bible makes it clear that sodomite (gays) are deserving the death penalty carried out by governments that care about God’s laws.”
He added that LGBTQ people are not allowed in church services and that he accused critics of abandoning the Bible’s values, and that he accused him of praise of his church in order to “protect children from predators.”
The church responded again request For comments from Wish-TV, Falco claims that only LGBTQ people want to die by suicide or be executed by the government rather than vigilante violence.
“He’s just asking for the death penalty and suicide against actual sodomite,” the church said in an emailed statement. “The Bible teaches that those people deserve to die. They are to be executed by the government. We don’t put the law into our own hands.”
Another church member, identified as “Brother Wayne” in a video on the Sure Sure Foundation YouTube channel, gave a sermon entitled “.It’s worth beating“He condemned the social issues surrounding the lack of discipline. He said corporal punishment for LGBTQ people must be “deathful.”
“I think they should be beaten publicly because they are recognized for all their illnesses first. “These people should be beaten and trampled in the mud, take their guns and blow them off in the back of their heads.”
G. David Caudill, executive director of LGBTQ rights organization Equality Indiana, warns that the church’s message is called inflammatory and dangerous, and that it could cause violence despite the church’s claims that it opposes vigilance.
