Fans of hot queer hockey drama fierce rivalry Now that the breakout sensation has been renewed for a second season, it can officially come back to life. Crave, the Canadian streaming platform owned by Bell Media, confirmed the news this week, and HBO Max will continue to license the series for U.S. viewers.
Created by Jacob Tierney and based on Rachel Reid’s Beloved game changer novel, fierce rivalry The film depicts the long-simmering and emotional relationship between hockey star Shane Hollander, played by Hudson Williams, and Ilya Rozanov, played by Conor Storey. The renewal comes on the heels of a fan frenzy across social media where the show’s engaging leads and tender yet passionate storytelling captivated LGBTQ+ viewers.

According to the official series logline, Hollander and Rozanov are “two of Major League Hockey’s biggest stars, bound by ambition, rivalry, and a magnetic force neither of them fully understands.” Their relationship, which began as a secret affair during their rookie days, has spanned nearly 10 years, through glory on the ice and turmoil off the ice. The show blends slow-burn romance, exploration of queer identity, and high-stakes sports drama, a combination that has helped it rise to the top of online trending lists since its November 28 premiere.
In addition to Williams and Story, the ensemble cast includes Francois Arnault, GK Robbie, Christina Chan, Dylan Walsh, Sophie Nellis, and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova. Robbie GK became a particular fan favorite thanks to his role as smoothie maker Kip Grady, whose romance with Arnaud’s character was one of the most talked about episodes of the season.

Season 1 debuted on Crave and HBO Max with two episodes, then released weekly leading up to the season finale on December 26th. The series’ consistent buzz, fueled by viral clips, fan edits, and weekly discussions about the show’s emotional intensity and intimate scenes, made its renewal almost inevitable.
Tierney will return for season two as writer, director, and executive producer alongside Brendan Brady. Reed remains involved as a consulting producer, ensuring the adaptation remains respectful of the emotional core of the original. Lori Fishberg will also return as a producer. The series is produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Crave, with international distribution handled by Sphere Abacus.

Anticipation is already high and fans are looking forward to seeing where Shane and Elijah’s tumultuous and fascinating relationship goes next. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger that left viewers excited, and now the next chapter of this quirky sports romance is officially underway.
