If you’re watching HBO Max or You’ve probably already heard of it, as there was a lot of excitement online this weekend. fierce rivalry — is a steamy Canadian TV drama that focuses on rival hockey players who find themselves romantically entangled when they’re not on the ice.

As expected, the drama’s romantic leads have garnered quite a bit of attention, but they’re also relative newcomers in terms of rising acting profile. We have Hudson Williams who plays Shane Hollander.

and Connor Story, who plays Ilya Rozanov.

Inevitably, speculation has surfaced about Hudson and Connor’s IRL sexual orientation. Because they both play openly gay characters on TV — and in recent interviews. extrathe show’s creator Jacob Tierney had the perfect response to such a potentially invasive question.

In the interview, Jacob said there was “no reason to go into” how actors identify in real life. “You can’t ask questions like that during casting, right? It’s actually against the law,” he said. “So what you have to assess is the person’s enthusiasm and work ethic.”

“And what’s so impressive about these two is that they came into this world like, ‘Yeah, we’re here to do this, and we’re here to make this story feel authentic and as authentic as possible.'” And they hit it out of the park. ”

Jacob went on to say that Hudson and Connor’s “chemistry was really crazy” during the casting process. “It was always about chemistry,” he said. “We loved them both separately, but seeing them together was just perfect. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Clearly, fans want more as well. And they will get it in a new form. fierce rivalry Episodes air every Friday on HBO Max.
