Netflix’s latest romantic drummer, My Oxford Year, It transports viewers to the picturesque halls at Oxford University. There, an American graduate student Anna (Sophia Carson) navigates love, friendship and academia. Her experience is central to her roommate Charlie Butler. How to Train a Dragon and 10%. Caitlynn McDaniel sat down with Trevaldwyn to discuss Charlie’s iconic style, personal growth, and why meaningful and strange expressions are important to him.
Q: Charlie is a roommate, comedy relief and style icon. How was it done?
Harry Trevaldwin: “Every time I had to wear a gorgeous scarf I felt the responsibility on my shoulders. It was tricky. I loved it. I wore more waistcoats than I ever wore in my life. That.”
Q: Did you lean on that fashion at school, or did this make your dream come true?
Harry Trevaldwin: “It was fulfilling. I was very similar to ‘What are the others wearing? I wear it exactly the same thing.’ Sadly, I wore quite a lot of skinny jeans in college.
Q: Do you think Anna’s shoes are scary?
Harry Trevaldwin: “No, I don’t think they’re that scary. Charlie had fun with Catty. I think the shoes that come later would be better. Charlie was basically wearing the same shoes so I don’t know what he’s complaining about.”
Q: Many side characters in this film get their own stories. How fulfilling was it?
Harry Trevaldwin: “It’s often a fair show, especially with strange characters. My Oxford Yearthe side characters are involved in the dynamics, and things are going on about their own. The relationship was authentic as they joined during the rehearsal. As a particularly strange person, you focus on strange characters. The deeper and more humanity of your characters, the more you invest in yourself. ”
Q: What holds down Charlie from accepting love in his life?
Harry Trevaldwin: “Charlie wears Cattinez armor. He quickly feels a step ahead, stays apart, keeps his distance and prevents injury. He sees Anna and Jamie’s love story, and slowly cracks.
Q: Who was the first character you really had to do with on-screen?
Harry Trevaldwin: “I kept making that wrong. I was a pretty happy kid, but I loved moody characters like Payton. One Tree Hill Or from effy leather. But maybe from the willow Buffy– There’s a kind and powerful witch. ”
Q: What is Charlie’s reliable karaoke song?
Harry Trevaldwin: “The Pink Pony Club” by Chapel Lawn or “It Doesn’t Impress Me a lot” by Shania Twain. ”
Q: Do you think Charlie and Tuffnut will become friends with “How to Train Your Dragon”?
Harry Trevaldwin: “Absolutely not. Charlie is making fun of tough nuts. The tough nuts just push him.
Q: Do you have a favorite Charlie moment?
Harry Trevaldwin: “Our director, Ian, improved his monologue in his lecture on dying at the bar. It was just to make my co-stars laugh. I didn’t think it would make a film, but it did perfectly.”
Q: This is an adaptation from book to screen. Are there other book characters you want to play?
Harry Trevaldwin: “I’m adapting my YA book, The Romantic Trial of the King of Dramathat was fun. But I recently read Glass Throne– I think Manon Blackbeak has the most sick wig. I want to play someone with a superpower. ”
