Comedian and actor Paul F. Tompkins roasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom with a sudden U-turn on LGBTQ+ issues and an invitation to Steve Bannon to the podcast.
The 57-year-old, who has been the governor of the Western states since 2019, made an unexpected right transition after speaking with Turning Point USA co-founder and right-wing critic Charlie Kirk.
During the conversation, Newsom made a sharp U-turn on his views on trance participation in sports, saying he believed it was a matter of “fairness.”
“I fully agree with you about that,” he said on a podcast spot in early March. “It’s a matter of fairness. It’s very unfair.”
Now, the governor is being criticized further in his podcast, especially for featured far-right critics and “America First” advocate Steve Bannon.

Bannon, who served as Trump’s chief strategist during his first term, Populist rights and served prison time for refusing to cooperate with the investigation into the deadly January 6th riots against the U.S. Capitol.
In February, Bannon barely escaped further prison time on charges of fraud related to private efforts to build walls on the US-Mexico border.
Tompkins, known for his work Mr. Shaw, comedy bang, and Bojack Horseman. In a blueski post on Wednesday (March 12th), Newsom wrote that, with the exception of “undersea governor,” he was completely inappropriate for political status.
“Would you like to interview a trans person about your anti-trans bull**t?”
“What do everyone need to hear from Steve Bannon?” I was asked. “It feels like we’ve organized this guy into crystal clear. I have no doubt about your honor anymore.
“Gavin Newsom never mind pretending to be anything other than the opportunistic S**Theel. He’s getting a Netflix comedy special right away.”
Tompkins further lamented Newsom’s new position on trans rights, saying, “Why don’t you interview trans people about your anti-trans bull?”
Kentucky Gov. Andy Besher also lamented Newsom’s transition to the right, and said Bannon’s rhetoric is too hated to parse, while he supported the creation of a “different voice.”
“Stephen Bannon supports hatred and anger, and at some point, even violence. I don’t think we should give him oxygen on any platform or anywhere,” he said.
