Benefits keep your dreams alive. Today, the duo, composed of longtime collaborators Finny and Ash, has released their second single, “The Hudson,” which is a follow-up to the film’s debut track “The Little Mess You Made.” Both tracks are displayed dreamThe duo’s first full-length album together via Dark Room Records on September 19th.

Love Letter to New York – And A Love Broken

Set with a soft piano and layered harmony, “Hudson” Captures the warm pain of love as it slips. Ash opens the song with a poetic vulnerability. “The trees were naked and naked, and so were us. The lyrics evoke fleeting intimacy, but Finny joins the chorus.

The track bulges with retro percussion, emotional guitar riffs, and harmonies that feel lifted from the lost Laurel Canyon demo tape. It is a timeless sound that reflects their self-descriptive “untimeless” approach to music.

In a statement, Finneas described the song’s structure as almost theatrical. “Part of the band’s identity involves these characters singing about their experiences with each other. It’s musical theatre design, and rarely happens in pop.

A black and white visual story

Director Alex Rocket’s official music video leaps towards the emotional tension of the song and the vintage aesthetic. A moody visual vision filled with coarse textures, black and white vignettes and soft focused color shots of Ash and Finny.

From the “Moral of the Story” dream

Fans of Ashe and Finneas remember to remember the 2019 breakout hit “Story of the Story” and the 2021 fan-favorite duet “Forevers Falls Atable.” Now they have fully embraced their shared artistic vision as favors.

Their upcoming albums dreamco-written and recorded between Nashville (Ash’s House) and Los Angeles (where Finnees lives). The project pays homage to Laurel Canyon Sound, with nods to Carol King, Simon & Garfunkel and Fleetwood Mac through the lens of 2025.

“This is how every artist dreams of making an album,” Ash shares. “When they were recording, people wouldn’t sing together anymore, but it was very romantic and fun.”

“It’s a true ‘long play album’ in its true intended meaning,” adds Finneas. “Hopefully we can welcome friends, make meals and play this on vinyl in the front back.”

Ash sums it up perfectly.
