A California man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing gay designer Eduardo Sol on an ABC reality show. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Sol, 58, died last week at Desert Regional Medical Center, 10 days after he was assaulted at his home in Palm Springs, California.
Palm Springs police said officers responded to a call for help from a man at 5:41 a.m. on Sept. 10, but could not provide specific details.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they heard a man inside the residence who was clearly in distress,” police said in a statement. Officers responded and identified the caller as Richard Joseph Gonzalez, 34, of Cathedral City, California. Upon further investigation, officers realized that Gonzalez was involved in a previous stabbing.
Police arrested Gonzalez and charged him with attempted murder. However, when Sol died in hospital on September 20, the charge was upgraded to murder.
