Every gay tennis player at Wimbledon 2025

Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam event of 2025, will begin in London on Monday (June 30) and will have several gay tennis players offering important rainbow LGBTQ+ representatives at SW19.

During the pioneering days of gay grand slam champions Billy Jean King and Martina Navratirova, women’s tennis has long been offering the biggest LGBTQ+ names in the sport.

The Men’s Association’s Tennis Professional (ATP) tour continues to slow down lag in women’s games. Until last year, there were no male gay players on the tour.

In December 2024, Brazilian Joanne Lucas Rey da Silva, 24, has become the first active male professional tennis player to be published when she shared a sweet social media post to celebrate her partner’s birthday.

Before that, former American world No. 57 Brian Vaharry was revealed as a homosexual in 2017, ten years after retiring from the sport, and shed light on some of the barriers faced by male gay players.

“I always heard homophobic comments in the locker room – my face, behind my back. It was part of the culture,” he said. Telecommunications 2018.

Joanne Lucas Ray da Silva is currently not high enough to qualify for direct entry into the Grand Slam tournament, but there are gay female tennis players keeping an eye on the Australian Open 2025 main draw.

Russian native Dahlia Kasatokina became the best-profile gay tennis star on the WTA tour released in July 2022.

“For me, if you’re openly gay, if you want to be yourself, I have to take this step and I did it,” Kasatokina said of her decision to represent Australia in the competition.

The tennis player, who ranked eighth in career-high rankings and reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2018, confirmed his relationship with the Olympic figures via Instagram when they were originally coming out.

Kasatkina is an outspoken critic of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and anti-gay political culture.

“Now it’s not safe for me. With the regime we have. As a gay person who opposes the war, I can’t go back,” she said. The era July 2023. “But I don’t regret it even 1%.”

Greetminen, who is ranked the 59-year-old career-high ranking, had a well-known relationship with Belgian tennis star Allison Van Witvank until late 2021.

In 2019, Minnen and Van Wytvank became the first same-sex couple in history to play doubles at Wimbledon and reach the second round.

The Minen masses came out in the tournament when Van Wydvank rushed to kiss her in the stands after beating then-champion Garvinyu Mugluza in the second round.

Minen and Van Wytvank announced their engagement in December 2020 before heading their separate paths the following year.

Dutch doubles specialist Demi Schures previously reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, and reached the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon and the US Open.

Schuurs has come out as a gay teenager and describes her desire to be a role model for young LGBTQ+ people.

She said WTA 2020: “I think it’s really good to be able to support young fans who are experiencing the same things as me. I remember how they felt when they came out, so the younger people understand what they want to be and show what they want to show.

“You’re only alive once, so you have to be happy and you don’t need to emphasize whether you’re gay or not.

Argentine tennis player Nadia Podroska was released in October 2022.

In an Instagram post, the former French open semi-finalist (ranked 36th in the world) confirmed his relationship with Argentine tennis player Guile Minanaya.

Podoroska’s post shared on Naya’s 26th birthday was made up of images of couples hugging and kissing.

Podroska congratulated her on the announcement by former female world number one and LGBTQ+ trailblazer Billy Jean King.


Guillermina Naya

Argentina Guillermina Naya achieved a career-high ranking of 533 in 2020, winning two titles at ITF Cicuit, the tournament tier under the WTA Tour.

The relationship between Naya and Argentine player Nadia Podroska was confirmed by Podroska in October 2022.

American Emina Bectus is currently associated with British player Tara Moore.

Bektas first invaded the world’s top 100 in 2023, becoming the fourth oldest top 100 debutant in WTA history.

Aut Gay British Player Tara Moore is a former 145 singles player worldwide and a former top 100 doubles player.

Moore is currently associated with Emina Bectas, an American player and former doubles partner. She was previously engaged to Swiss player Connie Perrin.

Swiss player Connie Perrin ranks 134 worldwide and previously worked for British player Tara Moore.

In 2017, Perrin said New York Times Dating a fellow tennis player is different when you date someone else who doesn’t really understand tennis or all such trips.
