Musk agreed, citing California Governor Gavin Newsom’s stance on transgender issues, including his decision to sign a bill banning school officials from “outing” transgender youth to their parents, as part of the reasons he is moving his company’s headquarters from California to Texas.
“So-called gender reassignment care is indeed a terrible euphemism,” Musk said. “This is child mutilation and sterilization disguised as gender reassignment care.”
“That’s evil. I mean, it’s taking kids who are obviously way below the age of consent. Almost all children go through some kind of identity crisis. It’s part of growing up. So it’s entirely possible for adults to manipulate children who are going through a natural identity crisis into believing they’re the wrong gender and that they have to become a different gender.”
“There’s a reason that there is an age of consent,” he continued. “For example, you can’t get a tattoo or drink and drive if you’re under 18, but you can do it at any age, because if you let someone take permanent action at 10, 12, 14, they’re going to do something that they’ll deeply regret later.”
Peterson asked Musk why he was focusing on this issue, to which Musk replied that his thoughts were influenced by his own experience as a teenager working with a child who came out as transgender.
“I was essentially tricked into signing papers for one of my older sons,” Musk said, misgendering his 20-year-old daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. “It was at a time when I really didn’t understand what was going on.
