Drag Race UK’s Chai T Grande on talent show and judging

The Sweetest and Spicy Chai T Grande drag race uk The Queen of Season 7 was ordered to leave.

In this week’s episode five, the remaining nine queens were tasked with competing in the SS Cicchetti Boo Talent Show, where contestants performed magic, booby burlesque, and original anthems (and, in the case of El Vosque, original anthems about original anthems).

Chai T. Grande delivered takeout. Dressed as Dango, the London-by-Bangkok performer pulled edible innards out of his costume and ran around the stage wearing nipple tassels for a surprisingly quirky comedy burlesque show.

Sadly, the judges didn’t bite her and Chai T. Grande was sent packing after performing a pretty impressive lip-sync to Queen of London’s pal Bones to Florence and the Machine’s “Spectrum.”

“It’s obviously very bittersweet, right? No one’s going to step into it.” drag race “I don’t want to go all the way,” the performer told PinkNews, but after spending the previous two weeks lurching toward the bottom two, she saw the writing on the wall. “I’m very disappointed, but this week I definitely felt it was time to go. I’m already at peace,” she says.

Chai T. Grande speaks to Pink News about the origin of her appearance on the talent show and whether she received unfair reviews, and fans are calling for her to return to the show. Drag Race Philippines: Thracian Royale.

Pink News: Hi Chai! You said you were disappointed to leave drag race ukbut I also felt it was time to step away from competition. Please talk about it.

Chai T. Grande: There was definitely an element of catharsis when Lou said, “Just take a breather.” But at that point, I had weeks of just long nights, long days, tiredness, having to talk about difficult things and just pushing myself physically. I described it as a mental exercise, and I think this word really sticks with you. I’m feeling all these completely different emotions. I was very moved to see the reception from the fans. It’s a bittersweet story, but here’s the answer.

What do you think of the talent show and what did you think of the judges’ reactions?

I’m definitely still proud of that. Do you think there is room for development? absolutely. I thought of that and made that number. [the talent show] It was the first week. The numbers I had planned for week 1 and week 5 would probably have been completely different.

You can see what the judge saw. You can clearly see that there is room for improvement. They should have taken off Dango’s costume to make it fully burlesque. It should have given it a nice combination of silliness, silliness, and a little bit of sexiness. We make these decisions under extreme pressure leading up to the show, and time is not on our side. You may need to create these numbers in a day or so.

I think it was a really fun piece of burlesque that had never been performed before. I wanted to show the fun side of silly camping. In my head, that was my weekly package along with my hometown runway. To me, it felt like a very good combination of ferocity, power, stupidity, and camp. That was my process.

Even before I filmed the talent show, I knew in my heart that my week was probably going to be either in the bottom two or going home.

But your runway is so loved. You wrote on Instagram that RuPaul really liked what you wore this week.

Want to hear glowing feedback from drag queens? It’s worth its weight in gold. for the show [was] It’s really testing and really taxing. We all still have day jobs, so we’re trying to put these runways together in addition to our day jobs. I have to practice snatch game. For the next few weeks, you literally eat, breathe, and sleep.

Knowing that all the hard work and effort and money that went into the runway was worth it, and getting such great feedback from Lou, the judges, and everyone else on social media, it’s really humbling to know that my packaging wasn’t tampered with.

Many fans on social media have also expressed their opinion on your performance in the contest, and you too are sharing your opinion online. What do you think about your evaluation of this season?

I can only really speak about my experience. That’s obviously subjective and not factual, but there were two weeks where I think I was probably unreasonably below what I should have been, given my track record.

I won’t argue that I should have been the winner in either competition, as I’m not taking away from the other girls, but I do think I should have come out on top in the sewing category at least. All the girls were alive, and there were some parts that weren’t depicted. Everyone was talking about how I was someone to watch that week. sari [TM] I should have accepted it 1000 percent because it was pure artistry, a chef’s kiss. I think it was at least worth the criticism.

Then the girl group: “I would die on the hill, and it’s ridiculous that I was in the bottom three because I didn’t disappear into the background anywhere.” They wanted trust from me. I’ll give it to you now: No [way] I believe that during that challenge I faded into the background.

At the very least, the judges’ critiques gave fans hope for more. There have been several requests to appear in a hypothetical second season of . Drag Race Philippines: Thracian Royale. Are you depressed?

First of all, I’m so honored to have seen Thracian Royale And it’s a season they don’t play. Those girls don’t come with half-hearted feelings. They throw the ball against the wall. For people to think I can be there and be myself? It’s a really nice confidence boost.

I’m a Jesus fan. Chai phonetically means “yes” in Thai, and this is a mantra I live by to say yes to any opportunity that comes my way. So am I open to it? Of course, there’s no way it can’t happen. season 2 chai slesian royale. Let’s do it!

Perhaps after a short break first?

oh yeah. I need to get some sleep. Contents mentioned in the episode [her break-up with a partner]that’s the work I have to do mentally to get my confidence to where people think it should be and where I want it to be.

Which of the Season 7 sisters cared about you the most during your low moments this season?

Basically, Pasty was really there for me for the first two weeks. We have known each other for some time. I think we have developed a really inseparable bond, and we call each other many times every day. [She’s] Now I’m just one of them [is] It’s part of my daily routine and I’m so grateful for that. page [Three] Elle was also really close to me emotionally. Elle and I were actually neighbors in the room we were staying in, so we could even try talking to each other out loud outside the window with a secret knock code. Even though that wasn’t technically allowed, it was really nice to know that sometimes if you need to vent your thoughts about someone, there are people out there to do it for you.

Is that why you became friends with the Soho girls, Paige and Bones?

I’ve never considered myself one of the “Queens of Soho.” [one of] Because I’m not as much a part of the scene as I am performing with them. Bones and Paige, I’ve been a fan of theirs since before I did drag. To be honest, both are really big reasons why I’m doing drag in the first place. Because I used to go to their shows a lot before I even thought of doing this myself. I was fascinated by what they brought to the stage.

Knowing that I’ve worked so hard not only to be on stage with them, but to compete with them…I’m very proud of myself. It’s also really crazy and lovely to know that they are now my sisters.

You were a Bones fan until she punched you in the face while lip-syncing…

She will definitely hear from my lawyer! It didn’t feel like she punched me in the face. It felt like we just bumped into each other. We both did the typical British thing: “Oops, sorry!”
