The House Committee on Energy and Commerce passed the budget adjustment text, voted 30-24 Nay after the marathon meeting. The committee version of the bill contains two provisions covering the access of trans people to medically necessary care. One would ban Medicaid and tip funding for adolescent blockers, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgery for trans people under the age of 18.
The other is covered as an important health benefit by amending the Affordable Care Act to ban items and services offered for the “gender transition procedure” (including adolescent blockers, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgeries).
