“Republicans are making themselves clear. They are happy to cut Medicaid and strip people of their health insurance to pay tax cuts for their billionaire friends.” statement From the United States, from Rep. Mark Takano, a gay California Democrat who chairs the Caucus. “The cruel Republican settlement bill limits trans people’s access to medically necessary and life-saving health care. Rather than saving costs, it deflects their base from the fact that the remaining bills take health care from millions of Americans.”

“As costs continue to rise, Congress should focus on supporting working families rather than cutting Medicaid,” he continued. “No matter how everyone feels about what transgender healthcare seeks, we can all agree that patients should have the right to make personal medical decisions with their families and doctors without government interference. Transgender people, like all, have access to the health care they need.

He posted this on his previous Twitter X:

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce passed the budget adjustment text, voted 30-24 Nay after the marathon meeting. The committee version of the bill contains two provisions covering the access of trans people to medically necessary care. One would ban Medicaid and tip funding for adolescent blockers, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgery for trans people under the age of 18.

The other is covered as an important health benefit by amending the Affordable Care Act to ban items and services offered for the “gender transition procedure” (including adolescent blockers, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgeries). This affects both plans offered on the ACA exchange and other plans that are subject to important health benefits requirements.

Medicaid is a joint federal state program covering health care for low-income Americans. The Children’s Health Insurance Program, which is also a joint federal effort, covers care for children in income families as being too expensive to qualify for Medicaid, but too low to obtain private coverage.

Republicans want to extend Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and significantly cut Medicaid and other aid programs. House of Representatives Gopers disagreed with many parts of the bill, but they hope to bring the bill to the final floor vote by anniversary. NBC News Report.

“Overall, the law is projected to save $715 billion by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and to reduce the 8.6 million people with healthcare coverage,” NBC said. “It has sparked tensions with politically vulnerable Republicans. Republicans are a hardliner who oppose profit cuts and want a more positive and structural change in long-term Medicaid spending.”

With only a small majority in the House of Representatives, the final bill fails if more than three Republicans are opposed, as all Democrats expect to do so. During the energy and commercial hearing, many Democrats on the committee spoke out against Medicaid cuts and showed photos of people losing their healthcare coverage. Protesters against the cut also temporarily disrupt the meeting.

At least one Republican in the US Senate is opposed to the settlement bill. Because he thinks he won’t cut his spending enough. in Politics At the event on Wednesday, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson likened the “big, beautiful bill” Trump promised to the Titanic. “I think this is down because I think we have enough colleagues in the Senate. Johnson wants some small bills with deeper cuts.
