Wow Presents Plus is set for its premiere Dear Viv On August 28th, a heartfelt documentary paying tribute to the late drug superstar Vivienne. The feature film will make its global debut on the streaming platform on the same day it airs in the UK on BBC 3 and iPlayer.
The documentary offers a gentle yet triumphant portrait of James Lee Williams, known worldwide as Vivienne. With the support of Vivienne’s family, friends and collaborators, Dear Viv It traces the rise of entertainers from small towns in North Wales to international fame.
First career
Through a combination of intimate interviews and archival footage, Dear Viv We’ll be revisiting the milestones that have made Vivienne a powerful force in the world of drugs. From winning the first season of Rupaul’s Drag Race UK To make history as the first drug artist to compete Dance on the iceVivienne has continually broken the barrier.
The documentary also highlights her stint as the evil witch of the West on her 2024 UK tour The Wizard of Ozand she returns to Drag Race As part of the first all-winner season of the universe All Stars.


I remember love, not loss
“She left us too early, but her life was defined by breathtaking talent, scene-stealing charisma and endless kindness,” said Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, co-founders of Wonder. “We wanted to not only lament her, but also celebrate Vivianne. We hope that the documentary will honor her voice and spirit.”

Intimate voice, invisible moments

Vivienne’s family, mother Cathy, Father Lee and sister Chanel share heartfelt memories and shed light on their early days and personal journeys. Friends and fellow queens such as Baga Chipz, Blu Hydlangea, Cheryl Hole, Crystal, Tia Kofi, Trinity The Tuck, and Monet X’s Changes, appear, with comparable parts touching and providing a joyous story.
These interviews combine with unprecedented footage, such as home movies and outtakes of drag races, providing fans with rare glimpses into the very private world of public figures.
A call to consciousness
In addition to celebrating her artistry, Dear Viv Dealing with Vivienne’s battle with addiction. The film does not eschew the tragic reality that the use of ketamine led to her untimely death. Her sister, Chanel, speaks openly about the dangers of drugs, and seeks a better education and support system for those struggling.

Dear Viv We aim to be a love letter filled with laughter, legacy and life, not just looking back. It celebrates Vivienne’s unique brilliance and the enduring marks she left behind in her strange culture.
