Singer, songwriter and actor David Hernandez celebrates the 10th anniversary of his national anthem in 2016 beautiful With the re-release of Valentine’s Day, Beautiful 2.0featuring transgender artist Mila Jam. Released on February 14, 2026, the single and music video are another celebration of self-love, authenticity, and LGBTQ+ visibility, reminding fans that Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love, it’s also a day to celebrate yourself.
Unlike a typical remix, Hernandez calls this an evolution. “In 2016, I knew that message was true, but I hadn’t yet fully lived it,” he told Gaity. “The important thing now is not only to discover your worth, but to stand in it.” The new version reflects a decade of personal growth, therapy, sobriety, and learning to set boundaries.
Collaboration rooted in friendship and community
Hernandez and Jam go back many years to 2015 when they were roommates in New York City. Their common history is as follows. Beautiful 2.0 Hernandez said this depth was not possible 10 years ago. “Mira doesn’t just sing the message, she embodies it,” he said. “Her voice has a resilience, softness and strength that makes this song more than a message, it becomes a reflection of possibility.”
This collaboration also has social and political resonance. “Transgender people are targeted in so many ways right now,” Hernandez said. “Working with Mira allows us to support and protect each other and celebrate each other.”
Reimagined sound, new message
Produced by Nico the Kid, the track retains the core of the original while giving it a fresh, contemporary feel. Hernandez emphasized that the goal is clarity over quantity. “The song didn’t need to be bigger, it needed to be more defined. The production gave it room to express emotion. It feels timeless.”
The Johnny De-directed music video follows a similar philosophy. While the original visuals leant toward quiet vulnerability, this chapter celebrates bold style, joy, and performance. Mirror balls, sequins and laser lights set the stage for Hernandez to jam with a confident glow. “At the time, vulnerability felt like something that had to be protected,” Hernandez said. “Now I wanted to be seen completely, confidently, openly, and based on who I am.”
Love, visibility and joy as resistance
release Beautiful 2.0 Valentine’s Day reframes the holiday as a celebration of self-love, chosen family, and honesty. Hernandez explained that self-love is not a destination, but an ongoing practice. “It’s like choosing peace, protecting your energy, and enjoying the good moments instead of waiting for something to go wrong,” he said.
“I feel like the timing is intentional,” Hernandez added. “We felt Valentine’s Day was the right time to celebrate all forms of love, not just romantic love. Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to remind people that they are allowed to be fully present and shine.”
The fact that it was released on Valentine’s Day also gives the song added urgency amidst the current political climate. “Attention has increased, but so has resistance. Pleasure itself can become an act of resistance,” Hernandez explained. “This version of the song is saying, ‘We’re still here, we’re still worthy, and we’re not shrinking.'”
A message to fans old and new
Dear LGBTQ+ fans beautiful In this moment of survival, Hernandez hopes the re-release will inspire growth, dreams, and confidence. “If the original was about holding on, this version encourages you to start believing that joy and love are possible, even if you’re not there yet,” he said.
Hernandez also spoke about the responsibility he feels as a visible queer artist. “Visibility is powerful, but boundaries are also powerful. I get to decide how I show up, and that feels empowering. At the same time, I feel a responsibility to represent my community. What you say and do can truly change someone’s life for the better.”
