the third movie of Knives Out The universe changes rapidly from broad comedy glass oniondives into themes of faith, doubt, and trusting those with whom we hold our deepest secrets. In a conversation with Gaiety’s Caitlin McDaniel, director Rian Johnson explained why he wanted to take the series in a more personal direction.
“The second movie was exactly what we wanted to make: a big, fun, comedic, wide-ranging movie,” Johnson said. “And with this piece…I think it’s nice to kind of ground this third piece, just to change it up. For me, that meant making it personal, and I started wanting it to be about faith, which is really personal to me.”
“I grew up very Christian, but now I’m not Christian at all, so I have a lot of very deep and complicated feelings about it.”

With this change, Benoît Blanc has already been confirmed as queer. glass onion — the interior of a church that is central to the emotional core of the film. And according to Daniel Craig, that church wasn’t real at all.
“The church…it was a set, a set that was put together,” Craig said. “Steve Allen, who is a great DOP with Ryan, wanted to feel the light. The sun coming out of the clouds, moving around the buildings…the stained glass and everything else. Every detail was thought out to convey the drama of the scene.”
Stepping onto the completed set, Craig said it was a “beautiful thing” and as the lighting team began work, “it felt like an explosion of glory.”
of course, Knives Out That won’t happen Knives Out No need for a little prank or a virtual body to hide. When asked who in the ensemble they would trust regarding the confession (or burial of the body), both Johnson and Craig did not hesitate.

“I feel like Glenn Close probably buried one or two bodies during her illustrious career,” Johnson joked.
Craig added more force, “Glen has land too…I’m being realistic.”
They also performed one of Craig’s improvised lines that tragically didn’t make it into the final cut.
“Now, put butter on a bun and call it a biscuit. I think it’s bingo.”
“For some stupid reason, I’m not in movies anymore,” Craig laughed.
A mystery full of rich themes, a strange detective at the center of a storm, dreamlike lighting, and questions of faith and truth. wake up dead man This is the boldest evolution of Benoît Blanc’s world yet.
And if Craig and Johnson are already arguing over who has enough land to hide bodies…this movie is shaping up to be delicious.
