Cynthia Erivo has been praised for her “courteous” and “patient” response to an upset fan at the stage door of her one-woman show. dracula.

Erivo’s apology seemed to calm the man down a bit, and he replied, “It’s none of your business. There’s no need to apologize. It’s about him.”

“I know, and he shouldn’t have done that,” the Tony Award-winning star continued, as she once again implored the man to “relax” and apologized again. “It’s okay, I’m really sorry,” she says.

The man in the video appears to apologize, calling Erivo “terrible” for having to deal with the fan noise.

“This is beautiful,” she replied cheerfully. “Everyone was so nice, but I can see that you’re hurting and I don’t like it.”

The man was not injured, but said he had been “attacked,” and Erivo apologized again.

He then appeared to walk away after repeatedly asking how stars handle “the cameras” as celebrities.

Online, Erivo has been widely praised for how she handled the heated exchange.

“She’s so sweet. She really is,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “And she didn’t have to do that. It’s really unfortunate that this happened and that she was put in a situation where she had to de-escalate.”

“She has so much grace and discipline that it’s insane,” a second person agreed. “She deserves so much more than the world is giving her, and I’m tired of it.”

“Cynthia’s de-escalation skills are top notch,” a third person wrote. “She deftly diffused the situation by calmly asking his name and asking him to tell her to know it. She immediately let him know that she recognized him as a human being. Her soul is so sweet and pure. What a saint!”

Some praised her for being “polite,” “patient” and “kind,” while others lamented the fact that she had to “put up with” such behavior from fans.
