Ciara Watkin found guilty of sexual assault for failing to disclose trans identity

Ciara Watkin, a 21-year-old trans woman, has been charged with sexual assault after the court heard that she hasn’t said she was dating someone at birth without being assigned a woman.

The BBC reports Ciara Watkin said she was in her period to stop her from knowing that she has not yet undergone gender verification surgery. The court has identified her as a woman and heard that she has used the name Ciara since she was 13 years old.

The prosecutor claimed the man could not make it. “Informed consent”after claiming that he had not had sexual contact with Watkin if he knew she was trans.

When Watkin later revealed the information, the man told officers he knew he had filed a complaint with the officer, but he would not have seen her because he “didn’t swing like that.”
