Chapel Roan speaks to Drew Affalo about the downsides of fame

Though the singer has been making music for over a decade, her mainstream breakthrough came this year with Olivia Rodrigo’s guts Touring. Although Chappell often goes out “in disguise,” she also feels lonely when she’s alone. “People started being weird, following me around, knowing where my parents live, where my sister works,” she continued. “It was all weird.”

A few years ago, Chappelle said she would “quit” if there was a “stalker vibe” or if her “family was at risk.” She continued, “We’ve been there. I’ve honestly put the brakes on everything to make myself more famous. It’s kind of a wildfire right now. But I’m not trying to do a ton of stuff. I just want to do these things. I want to have some girl time, feel like I can be myself and not have to be Superman.” Chapel“

When asked about the best parts of being famous, she said, “People who have been in my shoes are comfortable talking to me because we can empathise on the same level. People that I’ve looked up to my whole life are now like colleagues, which is awesome. It’s amazing. I expect nothing but happiness from my career. I’ve been poor, so I know you can be happy and poor at the same time. I’m not scared of not having money. All I really need is how to make this sustainable. Everything that’s happening now is just a bonus. I never thought I’d be flying first class.”

Other perks include being invited backstage. She added of one moment: “Miley [Cyrus] He invited me to a party, and I said, “You don’t know that this was my first concert. Jonas Brothers “I opened for you.”
