Chapel Lawn — aka your favorite artist’s favorite artist — was everywhere in 2024.I’ll never forget where I was when I heard “Good luck, Babe!” first time. Perhaps the Recording Academy will do the same, as first-time nominee Chappell is up for six nominations at next week’s Grammy Awards. She’s also had quite a few viral moments. Over the last year, she has made headlines multiple times for her non-snarky attitude towards the press, paparazzi, and the public. She rose to fame with her widely acclaimed debut album. The rise and fall of a Midwestern princess (went triple platinum in my house) and BBC Radio 1 just named her for their show Sound of 2025.When discussing her no-BS attitude, the interviewer referred to her as a “people’s woman” and said that such an attitude is necessary to her level of success. “It’s very interesting because I disagree,” Chappell began.“I think you can be really successful if you’re not really combative,” she explained. “I think I would have been more successful if I had been okay with being muzzled.”“I think you can be more successful if you say yes to things. It made me feel You will never get this opportunity again,” she added.Chappell then explained that his actions were more of a survival strategy than anything else. “If I can override that basic instinct in my mind that says, ‘Stop, stop, it’s not okay,’ I’ll be bigger. I think I’ll still be touring,” she said, in order to focus on her health. He said this while mentioning that the tour ended in October last year. And when it comes to her reaction to “contempt,” Chappell herself knows she broke the mold. “I didn’t succumb to the weight of the expectations of being a pop star,” she declared.Chappell brought up her reaction to a photographer at last year’s VMAs, saying, “I think that completely destroyed what everyone thought, which was that that’s not what a pop star should do.” .“I’ve been acting like that… it doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong in that situation… but I’ve been reacting like that to disrespect my whole life. But now I… I also happen to be a pop star. And they don’t match. They’re like oil and water,” Chappell concluded.I am so happy that she is setting new standards for girls. Because they shouldn’t be disrespected. But I’d also love to hear your opinion. LMK in the comments.
