The rivalry between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj has officially been drawn from retirement. Almost ten years after the first public explosion, the two rappers are trading shots again. This time it’s from Cardi’s newly released album Am I a drama?
Spark illuminated it again
The drama reignited after Nikki suggested that Cardi’s sophomore album, which recently hit double platinum, could have inflated sales. Cardi wasted no time firing on X (formerly Twitter).
“Why do you keep lifting my album?” she posted September 29th.
Cardi points to Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Drake, saying Nikki should be worried. “These are the numbers you need to compete,” she added. “I was in high school when you came out.
Nikki will be personal
Nikki responded with a series of posts since then, chuckling Cardi’s song “Magnet” with her own parody lyrics, covering up the rapper’s pregnancy. She also accused Cardi of undergoing surgery to make him look like her.
At one point, Nikki wrote:
“abcdefgeeeee / fallin form for big bellyyyy / running trains / barefoot, still smellyyyyy / still. You.
Cardi hits under the belt
Cardi didn’t hold back either. She accused Nikki of obsessively streaming “magnets,” and went further by referring to Nikki’s brother’s sexually assault beliefs. “Your brother touches 12 years old,” she wrote.
The Bronx rapper also spoke to Nikki’s pregnancy-related jab.
“There’s nothing more to bother you than a bored B-H.”
Cardi admitted that she blinded her mid-kitchen session. “Naaaa cuz I was really baking ribs and making blonde brownies. Here’s this b.
“You must have missed me, like crazy? Kiss my feet now.”
The feud escalates
By October 1st, things were swirling even more. Cardi calls Nikki “owns a drug addict” and tells her to seek medical treatment. “You need to heal that trauma. You always come to people whenever they see happiness,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Nikki encouraged fans to boycott the company that was tied to Cardi, saying, “All companies that have allowed for years to make nasty remarks about children and other marginalized groups will cut down on the three-day relationship.”
Endless rap rivalry
This latest explosion adds another chapter to hip-hop’s most troublesome feud. The pair clashed famously at New York Fashion Week in 2018, and despite years of silence, their relationship has not been healed.
It seems that one truth remains as both women continue to dominate the rap in different lanes. When Cardi B and Nicki Minaj clash, the internet eats it.
