The Capital Pride Alliance is moving the 2026 Capital Pride Celebration to the third week of June, one week later than usual, to avoid overlap with major events related to President Donald Trump’s birthday on June 14 and preparations for the nation’s 250th anniversary. Pride Weekend will be held from June 20th to 21st, with a parade on Saturday and a festival and concert on Sunday.
Last year, the Trump administration celebrated the president’s birthday and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military with a military parade downtown. According to a statement released by the Capital Pride Alliance, moving the celebration to a third week will allow space for Pride celebrations and “maintain Pride as a powerful act of awareness, solidarity, and resistance” so that “our community can safely gather without unnecessary barriers.”
“As we look to 2026, we will turn the tradition of World Pride into a rallying cry, demanding visibility, defending our rights, and organizing for the safety and freedom of our communities,” Capital Pride Alliance CEO and President Ryan Vos said in a press release announcing the changes.
Registration is now being accepted Open to organizations, artisans and businesses interested in participating in the Pride event, applications for food vendors are expected to open in January 2026.
As in previous years, Capital Pride will hold its annual Pride Reveal Gathering at the end of February to announce the 2026 theme and announce the full schedule and details of official Pride events.
Pride Reveal will also include a schedule and description of events hosted by Capital Pride Alliance’s “Pride 365” partner organizations, including nonprofits, community groups, and businesses as Pride sponsors.
