The Boston Police Department released photos earlier this month of eight men suspected of being involved in allegedly involved in a hate crime against a gay couple in the city’s Matapan area. Some of them are blurry and depict men of various ages. One is wearing a Red Sox hat with a white shirt and a jacket. Another with a tiny white beard wearing a bass pro shop hat and a black shirt. And sports round sunglasses with a third bald and maroon V-neck.
The other five suspects are depicted in various outfits. A long-sleeved white shirt with jeans and white sneakers. Olive long sleeve shirt with jeans. A black T-shirt and jacket with braided hair. A red sweatshirt with matching shorts. And a black and white tracksuit.
“Detectives assigned to the Civil Rights Unit are seeking public support to identify those involved in the worsening attack that occurred near 550 River Street in Matapan around 7:45pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025,” Facebook wrote. post. “Persons with information are highly urged to contact the Civil Rights Unit at (617) 343-4527.”

During the fight, one of the victims was hit in the back of his head with a baseball bat. Police discovered he was lying in a nearby parking lot, bleeding from his head and being transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.
