Asmongold just said he would respect the pronouns and identity of his hypothetical transgender child, so the denizens of hell better get their ice scrapers ready.

The controversial right-wing Twitch streamer, known for his political commentary and gaming content, broke away from his usual anti-trans views and insisted that if he had a transgender child, he would respect and support them.

After his viewers began hurling bigoted insults at the community, the 35-year-old, whose real name is Zach Hoyt, stepped in to defend everyone’s right to express their identity regardless of the beliefs of others.

“When kids grow up, they’re going to make adult choices, and at the end of the day, for me, it’s more important to maintain a relationship with my kids than it is for me to support a point of view that, you know, is really trivial,” he said.

The streamer, whose audience is typically comprised of right-wing “incels,” said he would let his children make their own decisions once they were adults and didn’t care about their gender. Because “gender does not define a person.”

“At this point, you have 20 years of life experience with this person, who, you know, you created this person,” he continued. “Of course I’m not going to give it up because of some shitty pronouns. Absolutely not.”

The comments represent a welcome change from pro-Trump streamers who are typically anti-trans and almost notorious for their right-wing political views. his hygiene.

In April, Hoyt made headlines when she expressed her belief that transgender children are “victims” of “mentally ill” parents.

In a segment later posted to X/Twitter, he said, without any basic evidence, that the vast majority of transgender youth are being “groomed” by their parents and “fed a ton of propaganda.”

“[If] You have a 17-year-old child, right? I mean, I feel like it’s a little bit more… less definitive. But if you have a child, for example, prepubescent, and that child is transgender, your parents have a mental illness. that’s it. “

Asmongold protects himself from transphobic viewers

Hoyt refuted accusations that she was a “hypocrite” for wanting to support transgender children, saying, “No, I’m not. In fact, I’m not. I’m the only one who’s not a hypocrite.”

In response to another viewer who asked, “Aren’t you going to call your son your girlfriend?”, Hoyt replied:

“I’d probably say, ‘Are you sure you feel that way?’ And I want to help them overcome their gender dysphoria as much as possible,” he argued. “But at the end of the day, if nothing else works, that’s what I would do.”

After appearing to suggest she would subject her hypothetical transgender child to so-called conversion practices, Asmongold said her relationship with her family was “more important” than maintaining her anti-trans beliefs.

The sheer shock felt by online users who were perplexed that Asmongold navigated the discussion of transgender issues without using the term “mental illness” was more than palpable.

One Reddit user responded to a clip of the discussion, saying Hoyt’s comments were “treason of the highest order.” [win] In recent memory. ”

Another user wrote: “I don’t like Asmongold, but this is a very human reaction.” “He’s not talking about trans rights at all. He’s talking about wanting to love his children. The chats discuss things like: [whether] They wonder if it’s right or not and completely miss his point. ”
