Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina known for his lengthy anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, is accused of writing sexually lewd and politically inflammatory comments on a pornography message board more than a decade ago.
In a shocking CNN report, Robinson, who is black, reportedly called himself a “black Nazi” on the message board, supported the reinstatement of slavery, disparaged Martin Luther King Jr. and made derogatory comments about the black, gay, Muslim and Jewish communities.
The comments on the message board date between 2008 and 2012, predating Robinson’s political career and his current term as lieutenant governor of North Carolina.
The online user, who CNN alleges is Robinson, described himself as a “pervert” on the message boards of pornography website Nude Africa and allegedly posted explicit and sexually explicit messages in which he spoke of infidelity, physical acts and bodily fluids, and claimed to be sleeping with his stepsister – all potentially part of a fetish or role-play fantasy scenario.
Despite repeatedly using anti-LGBTQ rhetoric during his campaign and attempting to paint transgender women as predators and a danger to women in the bathroom, Robinson allegedly claimed in posts he wrote more than a decade ago that he loves watching pornographic scenes in which transgender women have sex with cisgender women.
“I love seeing transgender on girl porn! So hot! Leave the man in and let the man out!” Robinson reportedly wrote.
He also reportedly said he became sexually aroused by memories of “spying” on women in public showers as a teenager.
The comments were posted under the username “minisoldr,” which was Robinson’s handle on Twitter (now renamed X), on YouTube (the URL youtube.com/user/minisoldr now redirects to the “iamthemajorityusa” user page), Pinterest, Disqus, and other black social networking sites. Black Planet.
CNN reported that it first contacted Robinson on September 17, but it took his campaign two days to issue a denial.
Ahead of the publication of the article, Robinson posted a video on social media denying the allegations, saying the controversial sexually explicit comments made in Nude Africa were not his own.
He also slammed the campaign of his Democratic opponent, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, accusing him of “leaking” the matter.
Robinson said he has no plans to withdraw from the gubernatorial race.[Supreme Court Justice] Clarence Thomas once famously said he was the victim of a high-tech lynching. Apparently Mark Robinson has, too.”
The scandal broke a few weeks later. ParliamentA North Carolina-based digital publication reported that Robinson frequented a local video porn shop in the 1990s and 2000s, a claim that Robinson’s camp denies.
In a Sept. 19 interview with CNN, Robinson denied making the comments at the Nude Africa forum.
“This is not us. These are not our words. And this is not who I am,” Robinson said.
However, CNN was able to match email addresses of Nude Africa users with an email address that Robinson reportedly used on the Disqus platform.
CNN was also able to match some biographical details about Robinson’s personal life with information shared by “minisoldr” on various social media sites and on the Nude Africa message board.
Additionally, CNN was able to connect Robinson to the username “minisoldr” through reviews of products and places of business that both “minisoldr” and Robinson publicly endorse, and matched posts by minisoldr and Robinson on specific topics, such as a shared fascination with certain celebrities and their favorite celebrities. The Twilight Zone The unique language that coincides with the episode (such as “catch the maggots,” “idiot,” “frog butts are nothing,” and “I don’t give a damn”) is used by both Nude Africa’s minisoldr and Robinson on his own Facebook page.
“I’m not going to get into the specifics of how someone concocted this salacious tabloid lie,” Robinson said, alleging that Stein’s camp waged a sophisticated digital campaign to somehow pin an incrimination on him.
In addition to speaking out about his sexuality, Robinson used the Nude Africa forum to express controversial opinions and make inflammatory comments on a range of issues.
In an October 2010 forum post discussing black Republicans, he allegedly uttered, unprompted, “I’m a black Nazi!”
That same month, Robinson argued in favor of restoring slavery, reportedly writing, “Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I want slavery reinstated.” [slavery] I’m back and I’ll definitely be buying some.”
In March 2012, Robinson wrote that he preferred former German Chancellor Adolf Hitler to the leadership of Washington DC under former US President Barack Obama. “I would choose Hitler over any of the motherfuckers in Washington right now!” he wrote.
Robinson derided civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. as a “communist bastard,” “worse than a maggot,” a “con man,” and a “fake.”
His comments led another user to accuse him of being a member of the Ku Klux Klan, to which he responded, “I’m not a member of the KKK. They don’t allow black people to join. If I was a member of the KKK I’d call him Martin Lucifer.” [racial epithet].”
Robinson allegedly used the anti-Semitic slur “Hebe” when talking about his enjoyment of the show. Fun times The show, developed by Norman Lear, was “a gathering of Hebbians.” [sic] It’s liberal nonsense!”
He called Muslims “ragged-headed bastards” and said, “If Muslims ever came to power, liberals would be the first to be beheaded!”
He also expressed anti-gay sentiments and frequently called other posters on the Nude Africa message board “fucking motherfuckers.” In a mostly positive forum discussion of a photo of two men kissing after returning from military deployment, Robinson allegedly wrote the only negative comment.
“That’s some really nasty bullshit bullshit!” he wrote.
In addition, Robinson is currently Support the bill The bill, which would ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions for rape, incest and the mother’s health (though he had advocated for a no-exceptions ban during his 2020 run for lieutenant governor), seemed to suggest that he doesn’t actually care about the issue that is a primary motivator for many Republican voters.
According to AxiosRobinson caused controversy earlier this year when she said abortion was “killing a child because you didn’t have the sense to pull your skirt down responsibly”, a comment that political commentators say was not well received by voters.
But his private statements seem to contradict his public stance: when informed by another user on the Nude Africa message board that one of his favourite celebrities had had an abortion, Robinson reportedly wrote: “I don’t care, I just want to see the sex tape!”
In another thread, Robinson appeared to make light of sexual assault: When a commenter attempted to weigh in on a story about a woman who claimed she was raped by a drunk cab driver, Robinson reportedly wrote, “The moral of the story is… don’t fuck white girls!”
Shortly after the CNN report was published, political news site POLITICO Robinson’s email was reportedly used to register an account on Ashley Madison, a website aimed at married people seeking affairs.
One anonymous adviser to Robinson said: Politico The email address used to create the Ashley Madison account belonged to Robinson and was the same email address used by a user on the Nude Africa website.
“Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson denies creating or using an account on this website,” Robinson’s spokesman, Mike Lonergan, said of Ashley Madison.
Republicans largely supported Robinson and accused the media of fabricating the reports.
“Mark Robinson categorically denies the allegations made by CNN, but that doesn’t stop the left from trying to demonize him with personal attacks,” the North Carolina Republican Party was quoted as saying in a statement. Axios.
Despite having the full endorsement of former President Donald Trump, Robinson has struggled in recent polls in the Tar Heel State. While an internal Trump campaign survey showed Trump leading Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris by three points, the same survey showed Robinson trailing Stein by 14 points in the gubernatorial race.
North Carolina tends to be conservative, so it’s unlikely Robinson would actually lose by more than 14 points, but polls suggest he faces a much tougher fight, potentially due in part to his past inflammatory comments and allegations that he frequented porn shops.
The fact that the online messages were made years ago should help Robinson avoid losing support from evangelical and socially conservative voters, who will point to his recent comments on issues like abortion and LGBTQ rights as evidence of how he would govern if elected. They may be more tolerant of Robinson’s past actions and thoughts from his younger years.
It remains to be seen how the allegations against Robinson will affect the presidential election, and so far the Trump campaign has not sought to distance itself from the Republican candidate.
Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, on September 21. Robinson last appeared with Trump when Trump pushed through the crowd to get onstage at a rally in Asheboro, North Carolina, on August 21. Trump called the local sheriff onto the stage but did not explicitly acknowledge Robinson’s presence at the rally.
