There’s something especially meaningful about engagement sessions, which are more like a glimpse of everyday love than a photo shoot. Amy and Britt’s lifestyle engagement session in Decatur, Georgia, beautifully photographed by Raven Shutley Studios (and Equally Wed’s favorite vendor!), is just that! A warm and intentional celebration of who they are, where they feel most at home, and how they love each other.
The sessions began where their stories unfolded most naturally: at home. From snuggling on the cozy couch to baking fall treats together, Amy and Britt invited Raven into the rhythm of their daily routine. The inclusion of their dog was non-negotiable (and rightfully so), and the result is a heartfelt and joyful series of images that feel deeply personal and surprisingly real. These moments, whether it’s playing your favorite board game, laughing in the kitchen, or stepping outside the colorful and cheerful house, are a raw record of this season of life, and that’s what makes them so powerful.

From there, the couple headed to Downtown Decatur to explore some of their favorite local spots. One of the highlights is Little Shop of Stories, a popular independent bookstore that has special meaning to them. Filmed during Banned Book Week, this stop added more authenticity and shared values to their sessions: a love of curiosity, learning, and community-driven spaces. The images from the bookstore are intimate and playful, placing their love story in a place that reflects who they are.

The session ended at Scepter Brewing, a popular neighborhood brewery with a relaxing outdoor patio and green space nearby. It was the perfect ending. It was a peaceful place, drinks in hand, out in the open air, the two of them completely comfortable in each other’s presence. Once the session was complete, Raven walked away, leaving Amy and Britt to enjoy a fun date night together.

This Decatur engagement session is a reminder that love doesn’t have to be posed or acted to be beautiful. Meticulously photographed by Raven Shutley Studios, Amy and Brit’s story reflects the core of what Equally Wed celebrates: authentic love, chosen family (including pets), and the freedom to be who you are.
I can’t wait to see what’s next for these two and photos from their wedding day! ❤️
