Sun in Virgo: September 17th to October 17th
Virgo is one of my favorite signs, but if your Sun, Moon, or Rising sign is in Virgo, you have a ton of challenges. With planets that are more materialistic and business-oriented, you pursue spirituality. This sign is challenged by their quest for perfection in everything and disappointment when they don’t get it. Virgo’s aim is to have a perfect material life and not be dissatisfied with it. If they could stop thinking about the future and start accepting and enjoying their life as it is, much of their dissatisfaction would disappear. Virgo struggles with their own shortcomings and the shortcomings of others, but they need to dig deep and find the humor that lightens their troubles. They tend to be humble and would rather remain anonymous than be in the light like Leo and the first signs of Virgo. Virgo is connected to the Sun that owns the 12th house, creating a strong desire for fame and attention, but also a desire to hide in a cave and not be seen.
This year, with the Nodes in Pisces/Virgo and eclipses on September 17-18 and October 2, Rahu/Ketu will stimulate Virgo perfectionism, which will have a strong influence between September 26th and October 2nd. This can amplify the pursuit of power and an over-the-top, out-of-control ego, which all politicians have issues with and will be amplified towards the end of the month.
On Monday, September 17-27, the Sun will enter Uttara Phalguni, one of the zodiac signs that is popularly known as a social worker who helps friends in need and has great skills in healing and counseling. On a spiritual level, this transit will evoke compassion from the compassionate side of Virgo and in a way, it is a time to reach out to the community and help the homeless, the poor and the marginalized. This is a time to perform merit-earning spiritual acts of service to achieve spiritual growth. It may be a turning point for you to move deeper into the divine from the more materialistic side of artistic illusion. Your connection with Durga and the creative urge of the Mother Goddess will help you move through the maya of the material world and beyond the illusion into the true nature of the divine. The Sun will move into Hasta Nakshatra. Virgo 10-23.20, September 27-October 11. The Sun is strong in your friend sign and you can inspire others with the power of your words, so this is a good time to put more effort into your Toastmasters speeches or blogs. The Sun moves into Chitra nakshatra (23.20 Virgo-6.40 Libra) from October 12-24, which can cause you to feel a bit imbalanced in terms of too much fire and perfectionism. This is also the end of summer, a time of imbalance for the fire element in Ayurveda, and a time to engage in Ayurvedic practices to remove excess pitta.
So enjoy Virgo and get into the creative realm and start great projects that will benefit humanity. Draw on the gentle and compassionate energy of Virgo, the Divine Mother who loves her children so deeply. Move beyond the material realm of new gadgets and into the Christian spirit of helping those in need. With the Sun passing here, there is a more dynamic energy to help you lead by example and foster compassion in a crazy world. There is so much that is needed in our crazy world.
Special thanks to my colleagues Komilla Sutton and Sam Geppi for their continued insight into the planet.
