After an unusually long two-month stay in Sagittarius, Mercury moves into Capricorn on January 8th. This is an improved placement for Mercury. By doing so, you will be able to make your words and plans a little more solid. Now is the time to be a little more discerning and thoughtful about your commitments and time.
Kelly’s webinar on January 4th will be about the major astrological influences, events, and cycles of 2025. That is, Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn and Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, etc. Click here for all details.
Show memo
Hello. Welcome to this week’s episode of the Kelly Astrology Podcast.
On today’s show, I’m really excited about some signs of planetary change, so I’d like to share a little about it.
On Wednesday, January 8th, Mercury moves into Capricorn after spending two months in Sagittarius.
Before I tell you more about Mercury, my webinar on Astrology for 2025 is happening this weekend. We’ll be sharing all about this year’s major astrological events, including Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and Neptune in Aries. If you want to know what’s going to happen in 2025, join us. Now, let’s go back to Mercury.
Mercury leaving Sagittarius and moving into Capricorn is a great change for Mercury as it brings it out of a harmful sign and into a more neutral sign.
This could help Mercury return to a more practical expression and help us all bring our plans, thoughts, and conversations back to Earth.
Mercury will be in Capricorn for about two and a half weeks, from January 8th to 27th.
During this period, Mercury expresses a more earthy nature and may turn your attention to practical matters. You may become more realistic in your thinking and expectations, or you may be content working with what you have rather than splurging or chasing greener pastures.
Mercury in Capricorn is more serious and cautious by nature, so they may take time to review, research, and plan before making commitments or organizing their schedules.
While in Capricorn, Mercury is ruled by Saturn, which can increase the quality of your wisdom and experience, or help you focus on long-term plans and projects.
Now that Mercury rules Capricorn, exploring time and how you use, organize, and structure your day and week may be on your mind.
Mercury, the planet of thinking, is currently in an earth sign when it comes to matter and tangible things, so you may want to organize what you own and simplify your space. Capricorns are more of a minimalist type, so they may be more intentional about what they use and honest about what they don’t use.
While in Capricorn, Mercury will aspect that sign’s ruler, Saturn, through a sextile around January 19th. This is an excellent aspect for making promises, signing contracts, and finalizing important documents and agreements.
Mercury moving into Capricorn has a lot of practical elements that will help you organize, manage your commitments and time, and generally build a solid foundation for what’s to come.
But for me, this time around I’m really looking forward to a quieter kind of Mercury after going over the loud, brash, and sometimes over-the-top themes of Mercury in Sagittarius for much longer than usual.
Mercury has spent the past two months in Sagittarius since early November, so the topics in your natal house of Sagittarius have changed many times as things have been busier or more scattered than usual. You may notice that there are.
If so, you too may have breathed a sigh of relief once Mercury moves out of your Sagittarius sector and gives you a chance to settle into a more manageable pattern regarding these areas of your life.
Let me know in the comments below what the very long Mercury in Sagittarius cycle has been like for you. And if you’re looking to wisdom or making more rational or concrete plans for the future now that Mercury is heading into Capricorn, we’d love to hear it too. I think so.
