While twin horoscopes continue to trouble astrologers around the world, a rare event recently occurred in which octuplets were born in the United States, all of them alive. This happened in America after a gap of 10 years. The last time they had octuplets was in 1998, and one of them died a week later. This time it happened on the morning of January 26th (the day of the solar eclipse) in Bellflower, California. The most interesting part is that all the babies were delivered by caesarean section within just 5 minutes from 10:43 to 10:48. All in all, they were 6 boys and 2 girls, all kicking and crying.
When this news broke, the first thing that came to my mind was whether the previously defined rules (see “Unique Features of Twin Charts” in the August 2008 issue of Saptarishi Astrology) could be applied to this case. I had to check it right away. For better or for worse. Although this rule is defined for twins, it should also cover multiple births. These rules are reproduced here for quick reference.
1. Look at Laguna Lord or its Dispositor. One of two conditions can be seen: [Rule 1]
a. LL or its Dispositor is involved in Parivartana/Srinkhara of Rashi or Constellation, or
b. LL or its dispositor deposits its own Rasi dispositor in Constellation (mixed parivartana?).
c. LL and its dispositor are closely combined (or may be within one nakshatra pada).
2. The lord of the 11th house (representing multiplicity) or the karaka of Jupiter in the 11th house affects the lagna or lagna lord by ownership or conjunction or graha drishti. [Rule 2]
3. Rules specific to identical twins [Rule 3]:
a. The 3rd and 11th lords are closely connected, almost only one degree apart. (or may be within the same nakshatra pada), or
b. There is Parivartana/Srinkhara between the 3rd and 11th lords of Rashi or Constellation.
Since this is a clear case of fraternal twins, there is no need to consider the third rule. The details of the birth of the first twins are as follows.

Now comes the interesting part: checking the defined rules. Lagna Lord is Mars. Its dispositor is Jupiter. Mars and Jupiter are in Parivartana in Navamsha! Also, Saturn, dispositor of Jupiter, is involved in the Parivartana of Rashi. It is interesting to note that all three of the Lagna Lord, its Dispositor and its Dispositor are involved in Parivartanas. This satisfies rule 1.
Next, we look at the influence of Jupiter (karaka of the 11th house or the lord of the 11th house on the lagna lord). In this case, Jupiter has a strong influence on lagna lord Mars in multiple ways.
– Mars in lagna lord is placed by Karaka of Jupiter in 11th house
– Both the above planets are in Parivartana of Navamsha
This satisfies rule 2.
There is always great satisfaction when rules formed to demonstrate Jyotish principles can be applied repeatedly to other applicable charts. After all, reproducibility is one of the cornerstones of all science.
