Points of Wealth in the Chart: The Sri Lagna

There are three points of wealth in your chart: Yogi Point, Part of Fortune, and Sri Lagna. Wealth is more than physical money, as we discussed in a previous article about the eight aspects of Lakshmi: courage, success, the ability to realize one’s desires, knowledge of one’s inner source, and health.

Many computer programs calculate these for you, like Sri Jyoti Star 9, but most people would get bored when it comes to the math of calculating them by hand. (Note: Not all software can accurately calculate this rapidly changing lagna, so get reliable software.)

Sri Lagna: Parashara, the Maharishi of astrology, discusses alternative lagnas and one of them, Sri Lagna, in his Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. Shri is the name of Lakshmi and is calculated based on the degree of the moon from the lagna and its placement in the chart tells us where Lakshmi is placed in the chart. Sri Lagna shows us the level of comfort that our prosperity is giving us in life. Whether the owner of Sri Lagna is exalted or debilitated, it will bestow wealth. Planets conjunct with Sri Lagna bring wealth. This can be calculated using one of the alternative dashas called Sudasha.

The zodiac sign in which Sri Lagna is located indicates the status of wealth in life. Planets placed in your own sign indicate upper-class status, planets placed in your friend’s sign indicate middle-class status, and planets placed in your enemy’s sign are more difficult. In the case of Bill Gates (October 28, 1955, 21:00, Seattle, WA), his Sri Lagna is in Aries and Mars, the lord of Sri Lagna, has a strong aspect to the Ascendant by Rashi Drishti or (aspect by sign).

Planets conjunct Sri Lagna affect wealth and status. The conjunction of Sri Lagna with malefic planets indicates obstacles to comfort in life. So, if Mars is adversely affecting Sri Lagna, you may need to donate to veterans, police officers and firemen on Tuesday to remove the blockage of Sri Lagna. People always ask Lakshmi for something, but what do they want in return? The houses, signs, planets and their lords conjoined with Sri Lagna suggest what needs to be given in return to release wealth.

So in my chart, I have Sri Lagna at 6.8 degrees Leo in the 10th house and a connection with Sun and Jupiter in Pisces in the 5th house. Therefore, supporting children, gurus, spiritual organizations, and 10th house organizations like Junior Achievement, which teaches young people success in business, is one way for me to unlock more wealth in my chart.

Those with SL in Libra on the 9th may donate to female gurus or female goddess temples to unlock Sri Lagna. Also, if the Sudasha (also known as Su/Sri/Lagna Kendradi in Libra) is running, it will have a huge impact as it will have a tailwind from the supportive wealth dasha.
