Everyone cringes at the thought of Mercury retrograde, but it’s not bad for anyone and it gets a lot of bad press. This November’s retrograde will be especially intense as Mercury station will go retrograde at 12 degrees Scorpio on November 9th, retrograde into Libra on November 23rd, and then direct at 26 degrees Libra on November 29th. Mercury will briefly conjunct Mars at 11 degrees Scorpio in Anuradha Nakshatra on November 12, so drive extra carefully and avoid arguments on that day.
Mercury retrograde basics
Always remember when Mercury goes retrograde. Back up your computers now (by November 9th), be verbose about your communications, don’t assume emails or text messages will be received, and be patient when technology takes a turn for the worse. Mercury is like the Greek god Hermes. He’s a trickster who wants you to laugh when things go wrong. If you don’t find humor in the chaos, you’ll really get flustered.
If you were born with Mercury retrograde, you will be right-brained, with stronger spatial and pattern recognition. Station Day is always powerful – Mercury appears to be stationary in the sky. This can feel like mental molasses. Please be patient from November 28th to 30th. Don’t impose important decisions during the station.
Mercury returns to Scorpio (December 6th-28th)
After going direct, Mercury will re-enter Scorpio on December 6th and remain there until December 28th. This is your chance to move forward with the insights you gained during retrograde. Whatever comes up for consideration is now being worked out, and you are using the diplomatic skills you gained from your time with Mercury in Libra to tackle these themes in Scorpio.
Combustion of Mercury (December 27)
Mercury enters combust near the Sun in Sagittarius on December 27th, creating a busy, hurried, and irritated mind. For Gemini and Virgo, this can heighten their presence and create what Western astrologers call “cazimi.” Good for bookkeeping, but be careful with business ethics.
Saturn in Pisces: Spiritual Background
Saturn transits Pisces throughout this period, adding to your spiritual depth. Saturn in Pisces asks us to bring structure to our spiritual practices while navigating the waves of emotion.
