Jupiter is everyone’s favorite big dog in the sky, and it’s extremely powerful as it prepares to go retrograde from November 11th to March 25th. Jupiter is only four degrees away from its exact exaltation at 5 Cancer, and here he is especially wise, of good judgment, and filled with spiritual grace.
The deeper meaning of Jupiter’s exaltation in Cancer becomes clear when we understand the connection between wisdom and emotion. As I have often taught, morality and wisdom are boring and useless without true emotional content. Jupiter in Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac and marks the beginning of true education and knowledge, not just intellectual understanding but inspirational wisdom. Such placements produce strong intuition, a beneficial home life, and make excellent coaches, teachers, counselors, and humanitarians who can truly empathize with the emotional needs of others.
Jupiter will go retrograde into Gemini on December 6th and will not return to Cancer until June 1st. The benefits of retrograde are more powerful for doing good and promote better judgment, but they are not without their problems. Especially if you are a woman, it can have a negative effect on your liver and your relationship with your husband or guru.

Jupiter connects with the liver, which has over 750 major functions in the body, and this transit can slow you down, especially if you have this combination in your birth chart or if you’re predisposed to liver issues. Try drinking hot water with freshly squeezed lemon every morning. This is the best way to keep your liver in shape. If you can tolerate the liver cleanse, it could be a good month. Avoid overeating and taxing your liver by eating very complex fatty foods, dairy products, and heavy cheeses.
