I receive weekly emails from people who have had their charts read (sometimes multiple times) and are frustrated. “My astrologer told me I would have a great career, but I’m stuck in a dead-end job.” “My D-9 has a great marriage, but I’ve been divorced twice.” “My chart promised spiritual gifts, but meditating for five minutes doesn’t make my mind go crazy.”
What I would say to them is that your birth chart is telling the truth. The promise is there. But it is denied on a level that most astrologers never pay attention to.
chart below chart
Think of your birth chart as a blueprint. Beautiful design, everything is in its place. But blueprints alone won’t tell you if there are cracks in the foundation, if there’s mold on the walls, or if the electrical wiring is in disarray waiting for a short circuit. That’s what the top sector charts reveal, the hidden architecture that determines whether the promise in the chart materializes or remains locked away as a failed possibility.
Most Vedic astrologers stop at Navamsha. You can check D-9 for marriage, glance at D-10 for career, and call it a day. But below that surface level there are gross aspects of your karma at play, and if you don’t understand that, you’ll be reading half the chart and wondering why your predictions aren’t coming true.
Where mental patterns become physical illnesses
Let me tell you what changed my approach to health astrology. I had a client. The natal chart was strong, D-9 was decent, and there were obviously no issues. However, there was nothing doctors could identify about any chronic illness. We observed D-30, or Trimzamsa. And it was a pattern in which mental pain crystallized into physical symptoms. My body was trying to express something that my mind couldn’t process.
D-30 shows how mental patterns manifest as health problems. It’s not just that “suffering from mercury means nervous system problems,” it’s a surface-level story. Trim Samsa reveals unconscious mental blocks, negative thought patterns running on autopilot, and inherited beliefs about the body that the conscious mind is not even aware of.
Understanding this diagram shows that diseases are formed at the causal level before they become diagnosable illnesses. This way, you can actually prevent suffering, rather than just dealing with symptoms once they appear.
Combine this with D-27, which reveals your mental attitude toward health (whether you have the discipline to do what’s good for yourself when Saturn is testing you), and D-3, which reveals the primal energy and courage needed to fight health challenges, and suddenly you’re not just predicting a health crisis. You understand why they occur and what needs to change mentally and spiritually for healing to occur.
Karma you didn’t ask for
Something that most Western astrologers don’t want to touch on is ancestral karma. We like to think that we are of our own making and that our problems are our own. But D-12 tells a different story.
The 8th house in Dwada Samsa reveals what you have inherited from your father. It’s not just about money. That’s the bare minimum. I’m talking about his unresolved karma around power, his relationship with authority, his unconscious patterns towards wealth and status. If he’s never dealt with self-esteem or money issues, who can get over it? You do it.
The 3rd house represents what you inherited from your mother. Her emotional patterns, her mental stability or turmoil, the way she is nourished or restrained. Are you addicted to comfort food and can’t break free? Anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere? Check out what your mother Moon was doing with your D-12.
Then we go deeper. D-40 and D-45 trace their maternal and paternal lineage back to their grandparents, great-grandparents, and ancestral patterns that have been passed down through generations. I’ve seen people struggle with inexplicable obstacles throughout their lives and sabotage themselves in the same areas over and over again. And finally, when we look at these graphs, we see that there is unfinished business from ancestors we have never met.
This is not mystical speculation. If you know where to look, it will be clearly visible on the chart.
Why spiritual practices fail
Someone comes to me with a “spiritual chart”… Jupiter is strong, the 5th and 9th houses are blessed, and perhaps Ketu is well placed in Pisces. They should be meditating like saints. Instead, they can’t sit still for even 10 minutes, are suspicious of every teacher they meet, and their bodies rebel every time they try to establish a practice.
D-20 tells us why. This graph reveals the specific obstacles to spiritual experience that Patanjali outlined centuries ago: physical illness that occurs during practice, inability to understand spiritual instructions, doubts about oneself and the teacher, and mental restlessness. In Vimzamsa, each obstacle has an astrological characteristic.
Understanding these blocks allows us to give people remedies that actually address the underlying problem, rather than general advice about meditation or mantras. You can see why those with “unlucky” charts make rapid spiritual progress, while those with all the advantages remain at a superficial level.
3D chess game
Life operates in multiple dimensions simultaneously. Your career doesn’t just depend on the 10th house of your birth chart. Whether D-3 shows you have the courage to take risks, whether D-30 reveals mental patterns that hinder success, or whether D-12 ancestral karma is preventing you from receiving the inheritance (material or otherwise) you deserve.
I call it a 3D chess game, but most astrologers play checkers. They look at one, maybe two, charts and make predictions based on incomplete information, wondering why the timing is off or why the treatment isn’t working.
When you learn how to synthesize these higher vargas using your birth chart and navamsha, you can read the DNA strands that make each life unique. You’ll see exactly why two people with similar birth charts can have very different results. You can understand why one person’s Jupiter dasa brought wealth and expansion while another person’s Jupiter period brought legal problems and weight gain.
This chart is perfect, but our understanding is incomplete.
What this course actually teaches
Varga 2 is not about memorizing the meaning of departmental charts. Anyone can look up “D-30 is for evil and misfortune.” It doesn’t tell you anything useful.
We will understand how mental patterns crystallize into physical illness. How your grandparents’ unresolved karma manifests as your psychological blind spot. How the primordial energies inherited through your family line can facilitate your spiritual growth or hinder it at every turn.
Learn how to diagnose health problems before they become serious. To understand why talented people fail despite “great charts”. Uncovering ancestral patterns that create mysterious blocks in your money, relationships, and career. To guide spiritual practice by identifying specific obstacles rather than offering general advice. Accurately time events by monitoring transits on multiple Varga charts simultaneously.
And most importantly, you will finally understand the actual cause of the problem, so you will learn how to provide remedies that work at the appropriate level.
who is this for
If you’re getting frustrated reading charts at a surface level, this is for you. If you want to understand why some yogas manifest and others don’t, this is for you. If you’re tired of the same common treatments that don’t bring about real change, this is definitely for you.
We designed the course to be built in stages. If you understand basic Vedic astrology (houses, signs, planets, and dashas), you are ready to read this material. Don’t be intimidated by technical complexity. We start with the basics and build towards synthesis.
For advanced players, this will change your practice. You will learn techniques used by masters, but rarely explained clearly, such as chart correction using D-60, predicting health crises before they manifest, and channeling ancestral karma that clients may not be aware they carry.
real point
These vargas exist to enable you to witness the drama of karma without getting caught up in it. To understand the lessons offered so that you don’t have to suffer blindly. See your genetic, mental, and spiritual patterns and make new choices.
The planets are setting up the karmic situation so that we can now deal with it correctly. Just like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day wakes up on the same day and ultimately learns kindness and compassion. The higher Vargas will show you what you need to learn, what patterns you carry on, and what mental adjustments you can make to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Once you understand these charts, you are no longer just reading astrology. You are reading into consciousness itself, the subtle level where transformation is actually possible.
That’s what we’re exploring together at Varga 2. It’s the tiny details that make all the difference.
