An alchemical New Moon in Aquarius

I tried to stay away from the internet that day. I don’t know about you, but I get stressed out thinking about what powerful people with bad hair, bad fashion sense, criminal records, and intentions are going to do to all of us next. is disgusting. I’m not saying their plans are nothing but horror, but I’m not going to feed cortisol to their gurgles anymore. I know that any news I see over the next four years will be demoralizing to say the least. Energy must be conserved. No need to spend extra money on the first dayI thought. This is not 2016. I am wiser and much more cautious. I want to keep myself as intact as possible as I move through the onslaught of violent acts that are promised to us.

But I watched it anyway. It’s sunny all day. We all were.

Images of the openly transphobic billionaire, left arm raised, fingers flexed, reaching for the gold medal of supremacy, were plastered everywhere. The world’s richest man, the man behind Germany’s far-right party AfD and Britain’s anti-immigration party Reform UK, is giving a full Nazi salute.

He did it twice.

And many, from the comfort of their homes and communities, imaginatively or outdoors, cheered and saluted him back without repulsion.

This is where we are. Also. And it’s a long road to get out of there. Decades. generation. Revolutions don’t happen in a day. (Although I accept miracles.)

I’m trying to stay focused and not be fazed by the far-right chaos, which is completely unsurprising, but I wake up thinking about it. I wake up feeling heavy. When he wakes up, he is haunted by many ghosts. And I’m in good company. After the last democratic president allowed and financed (using our tax dollars) genocide in Gaza for over a year, what other outcome could there be? Extremism is entirely predictable if no one opposes the most morally depraved acts known to humanity by the liberal leaders who supposedly govern us. If no one in charge has the moral clarity to say that carpet bombing an area where 50% of the population is made up of children, especially children, is abhorrent and wrong, then we are already in hell. If we can live stream the slaughter of our cousins, relatives, and fellow citizens, and the instantaneous destruction of our homes, hospitals, schools, and towns, anything is possible.

So this incredible action, this dog whistle to all right-wing extremists and white supremacists around the world, is almost boilerplate. Add to that the eerie irony that the Anti-Defamation League has said that being pro-Palestinian is anti-Semitic, but that the salute heard around the world is anti-Semitic.

Next week, the New Moon in Aquarius will occur on January 29th. Occurring in trine with Jupiter, this new moon is open-minded and confident. Polar planet Pluto also newly settled in Aquarius And on January 28th, it will make a precise conjunction with Mercury. It’s certainly edgy, but it’s an initiatory signal that can awaken us to the ability to perform alchemy.

The gift that Aquarius gives to humanity is certainty, intellectual rigor, and the ability to observe the forest and the trees. This sign is undaunted when it comes to truth. Visionary Aquarius isn’t the type to wear rose-colored glasses or get lost in the comments section. They have the indomitable spirit to analyze any topic deeply and intensively and form their own opinion.

It’s clarity.

We all know that quote. We all know how important it is to resolutely oppose evil and stand head-on against supremacy. I fear that what we don’t always know is how to muster the courage to disobey in the face of authority. But this is also an Aquarius’ strength. Known as antiheroes, outsiders, people on the fringes, and rejects of publicity, Aquarius knows how to rebel.

Those who seek total dominance will take advantage of every moment, every opportunity, every privilege, and every resource available to them. Those who support the oligarchy achieve their goals and advance their agenda without regard to anyone, any law, or any moral code. For those of us who believe in a world beyond endless cycles of violence, it’s time to stop trying to follow the rules that are imposed on us anyway. It’s time for us to stop trying to be right, perfect, even “good” and instead do what needs to be done. It’s time to stop waiting for someone to come and save us and instead send our own signals. Something unwavering. It is a clear declaration that we will not leave each other alone in the long, dark and difficult times ahead. It is a bold declaration that we will do whatever it takes to keep ourselves and the soul of this world intact.
