For famous stylists Petra Flannerycelebrity dressing up goes beyond movie premieres. “There’s so much going on beyond movies these days, and when I started, that was my focus,” Flannery said. “Everybody’s got their own series and TV now, and it’s just keeping everyone busy and keeping my world busy, so it’s all very exciting.” Flannery’s world is very busy when it comes to dressing the likes of Emma Stone, Claire Danes, and Zoe Saldaña, to name a few.
For the latest episodes of Who Wears What PodcastFlannery talks about the inspiration behind her clients’ most iconic looks, the difference between preparing a celebrity for a global press tour versus just one appearance, and more.

Talk about awards season. What does it feel like? How do you orient yourself in such crazy moments?
it’s true. Nowadays, there’s a lot more focus on that than just movies when I started. Now everyone has their own series and TV, and it’s keeping everyone busy and my world busy, so it’s all very exciting.
I had Emma Stone in attendance for everything this year because she is once again a very talented and beautiful actress… nominated across the board. Zoe Saldaña is something of a special case, and will be returning to pass the torch to this year’s Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Then there’s Claire Danes. She was nominated for a Globe Award and later for Best Actor.

I’d like to talk a little bit about Emma Stone. He’s clearly a long-time customer of yours. I still remember that pink backless thing The Calvin Klein gown you dressed her in…I think [it] If I remember correctly, it was the 2011 Globe Awards. Tell me about that look. Did you know there would be such a fuss?
I knew I loved the color. I loved sketches and colors, that was Calvin. [Klein]. It felt fresh. she was blonde. Isn’t it fun to find the right color for something? It was comfortable to wear, like a T-shirt dress. I knew I loved it, but I didn’t know how it would be received. And it was very well received. I think that’s what really made her famous – even though Popular. Next issue of Remember… fashion It was published as a full page spread. I guess that’s true when Anna Wintour and the fashion department were there [were] I really recognized her and thought, “Oh, there’s someone who wears this really well.” Obviously, it takes people like Emma [Stone] To convey that. I only do part of it and she takes it home.

I also want to talk about Zoe Saldaña. Because she’s amazing. You have all done such incredible work together over the years. “Only” the Oscar presentation and the world tour, is this a little easier? Do you feel the same level of pressure as your global tour continues?
When it comes to award season, I’m always so excited about all the dresses and the good work they do. It’s a very big stage, so [so] I really put a lot of effort into making sure everyone feels and looks their best. This year with Zoe will be a little brighter. [Saldaña] Because she’s just going to come back and take over the torch.
please talk about [Avatar: Fire and Ash] Premier. It was a slit as high as the dress could bear. How do you do that? Could you also tell us a little bit about Cartier jewelry? Because they were kind of ridiculous.
Yes, they were great. The stone was the perfect color as it brought a little hint of ribbon. The dress, yes, is interesting. The dress came with little…striped hot pants. [on the runway]but I got a dress without hot pants. I tried it on without it. We were like, “Wow, it’s so expensive, but it’s actually so beautiful, right?” So we thought, “Why not try using a sheer hose?” It looks exactly like Saint Laurent. Just like Anthony Vaccarello.
