The Ultra-Rich-Looking Color Trend That Will Define Fall

Like clockwork, a few colors always make their way out from the depths of the closet when the temperatures start to drop. Black! Brown! Beige! These are all the fashion world’s unofficial fall welcoming committee. But beyond the more obvious hues, there are a few other colors that occasionally catch our attention. Some of the colors that have swept the runways recently include oxblood, dove gray, and even olive green, which, ironically, could all be considered fall neutrals. For the record, these color trends aren’t groundbreaking. But for some fashion insiders, the very concept of choosing clothes other than black, brown, and beige is, well, a little too much. Shocking. Considering there has been a lot of conversation about alternatives to black, it’s only a matter of time before the color navy makes an appearance again.

Before you scream at the screen, hear me out. Embracing color can be a challenge for fashion lovers (not that we care about color). But by choosing an unexpected neutral like navy, we can make our everyday staples look just a little more elegant. If you’re still not convinced, keep scrolling. To prove that this color is indeed the “new” black, I’ve gathered enough evidence that this particular color has made its way into the Fall/Winter ’24 collections. Read on to see some styling examples of this color trend on the runway and a selection of the best navy outfits for fall from Nordstrom, H&M, Aritzia, J.Crew, and other retailers. Honestly, this might make you want to stop wearing all-black clothes. Read on with caution.
