The Best Travel Guide and Itinerary for Phuket, Thailand

If there is a destination that perfectly blends luxury, culture and breathtaking properties, it is Phuket, Thailand. For my 40th birthday celebration, I wanted something unforgettable, so Phuket delivered all kinds of magic and more. My husband and I, together with some of our close friends, created memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. From island hopping and jungle dinners to elephant cuddles and iconic sunsets, if you’re planning on an escape from Thailand, there’s everything you need to know (and pack it in!). Save this as your best travel guide and itinerary for Phuket to visit Thailand.

The ultimate guide to Thai vacations

Get there: Flight and Arrival Tips

We flew Qatar Airways business class through Doha. The service, comfort and the experience during the flight were luxurious and set the perfect tone for a special trip. Some of our friends flew Emirates via Dubai, another airline I loved and used previously. Travel to Dubai. I wore it for my travel clothes Attico sweatpants Pairing K tank top line, JW Anderson Muleand completed the look with my talent lufly carry-on.

If you are considering which airline you are not wrong. Arrival in Phuket HKT International Airportand if you’re staying Surin Phuketthey will provide airport transfers with advance notice. It is highly recommended to book this in advance.

Must-see travel app:

  • Bolts & Grabs For local rides

Where we stayed

I’ve checked in Surin PhuketLocated on stunning Pansi Beach. It was the perfect blend of tranquility and a 5-star atmosphere. Wake up the ocean views and having a coffee step from the beach felt like a dream. Their beachfront villas are perfect for couples and small groups looking for privacy and pampering. For reference, if you plan to stay at Surin Phuket, please note that it includes many stairs, elevators and escalators. You have plenty of stairs to go back and climb forward. They have a ride that looks like this mini golf cart that can drop you down close enough to your villa, but you’re still on the hill so you’ll need to take some stairs to reach your villa – a great view!

Wat Chalong Phuket Thailand

Places to visit and a must-see experience

Every day was curated to balance adventure and relaxation. This is the fault:

Day 1:

  • Arrived, calm and relaxed.
  • I drink at the sunset TU Rooftop Bar & Baba’s Nest.
  • Dinner + Fire Show Nomad Beach Club– Really magical! Please check me Highlights of “Phuket” on Instagram more. The fire show was great, and so was the food.

Day 2:

  • full Beach Day in Surin While waiting for more guests.
  • Sun, sand, conversation. (Pro tip: get Thai coconuts!)

Day 3:

  • Wat Chalong Temple – Culturally rich and beautiful. Be sure to have something to cover your shoulders and wear a costume that is more than knee length for a temple visit. You will also need to remove your shoes before entering the temple.
  • lunch Hidden cafe (Don’t skip Thai iced tea!)
  • Scenic stop Karon’s perspective.
  • Phuket in the old town Walk + Sunday Market is found.
  • A dreamy dinner Three Monkey Tree House Restaurants.

Day 4:

  • Fifi Island Day Tour – Snorkeling, Maya Bay, bamboo island, etc. Absolutely a highlight! I booked this using the Get Your Guide app… The one I booked is called “Phuket: Phi Phi, Bamboo & Maithon by Premium Speed Catamaran” and the fantastic tour guide is called “Smile”.
  • Pack your GoPro and waterproof phone pouch. If you’re going to get Seasick for Speedboat Rides, we recommend bringing you to Seasick Meds in advance.

Day 5:

  • Elephant encounters at a splash cafe – Such a surreal experience. If you want to feed or take photos of the elephant, you will need to pay an admission fee per person.
  • Lunch and content worthy photos Ma DooBua Café (These lily pads!) – Be sure to arrive on time. It gets crowded quickly and you won’t be able to purchase tickets for Lilypad photos in advance. We arrived around 11am, but only photo slots were available from 2pm.
  • sunset Kata Beach.
  • In the nightlife Tree Bar Club House…The view is amazing! I’m going to the sunset.

Day 6:

  • Spa day at Surin Hotel in Satai (opposite the hotel, even cheaper). We’ve heard some great things about Sawasdee Village.
  • My formal Birthday dinner at Setai (Another great restaurant is black ginger). I was wearing something stunning, Mint floor length dress (Please check me out Instagram (for appearance).

capk luggage

This is my must-have Phuket Packing Checklist. It is especially useful for tropical adventures.

  • passport
  • Swimsuit (some luggage!)
  • Mosquito/insect repellent
  • SPF 50+Sunscreen
  • Chic sun hat + Extra large sunglasses
  • Handheld Fan (For these daytime market walks)
  • Comfortable sandals and water shoes
  • Formal wear (If you’re having a gorgeous dinner like us!)
  • Lightweight Beach Concealment + Statement Costume for Dinner

What to wear: Island style meets chic elegance

Phuket is hot and humid in June, so think of flowing, breathable fabrics and elevated resort wear. June is also the start of the rainy season, so it was raining during your stay, so please add a small umbrella. I chose this to go with a refreshing dress, denim shorts, a two-piece set, and colorful accessories. For island hopping, my go-to one-piece swimsuit with mesh cover-up and an oversized sun hat was my go-to. For a fire show and nightlife? Bring a fun and playful dress or skirt: I went with this Retrofete mini dressand I wore flat sandals during my stay, except for the official birthday dinner.

You can check out all my clothes and style inspis from my trip Instagram @jadorefashioninclude:

  • My Linen Two Piece from Day 3
  • yellow Mesh top and Skirt cover up For Phi Phi Islands
  • Setai’s birthday dinner glam gown

FutureFinal Tips for Future Travelers

  • Exchange currency at or outside the airport for even better rates.
  • Be respectful in the temple: wear modest clothes and remove shoes if necessary.
  • Book Island Tour in advance – quickly fill up in peak season.
  • Leave your suitcase room for a market discovery. Hooket is full of hidden gems.
  • Always stay hydrated and use plenty of SPF! When it turned around in early June it was very humid.

Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a girl’s trip or a milestone birthday celebration, Phuket won’t let you breathe. This trip reminded me to embrace joy, exist and celebrate the beauty of life surrounded by people I love. The food was amazing…everyone of the food I ate. I’ve always been a huge fan of Thai food. People are friendly and welcoming. Stop by the mall, tops, 7-Eleven for snacks (I fell in love with this kit cat milo flavor) and skincare masks. At the mall/market you will buy silk scarves and many other souvenirs.

Thailand, you have a special place in my heart now. This is a more beautiful trip 💛

Save this as the best travel guide and itinerary for Phuket, PS Thailand.
