The 40th annual MTV Video Music Awards kicked off at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on Wednesday night, showcasing pioneering performances and iconic moments from some of our most beloved celebrities.
“Vapor” rapper Megan Thee Stallion hosted the star-studded event, entertaining attendees with multiple costume changes, a tribute to the legendary Britney Spears and a string of songs.
From hosting and performing to presenting and winning at the VMAs, the Houston native showed off her multifaceted skills.
Alongside Meg, rapper Glorilla also performed her hits “Yeah Glo” and “TGIF,” thrilling the crowd.
In addition to the numerous celebrities who graced the stage and took moon people home with their incredible artistry, fashion was also “on trend” last night.
Below, we have handpicked our “Top 10” best dressed.
Top 10 Best Dressed:
- Angela Simmons of Venus Prototype and Yo Gotti of Custom Fleurs
Angela Simmons and Yo Gotti are going strong as ever, and this fashion bomb duo showed up to the MTV Awards looking like they’re worth a million bucks. Simmons was a real show-stopper in a sexy red latex Venus Prototype dress styled by EJ King. We loved how the cut-outs and corset in her dress spoke volumes about her sexiness. Meanwhile, Gotti looked dapper for fall in a grey custom knit suit by Freres.
- Megan Thee Stallion in Nicole Felicia Couture
It is the role of the host of the night to rule the red carpet with boldness and daring. Megan Thee Stallion looked a leading figure in a progressive and out-of-the-box black dress by Nicole Felicia Couture. The proportions and silhouette of her black dress were avant-garde.
- Custom Bent Kahina Glorilla
Paying tribute to former TLC member Lisa Lopes (infamously known as Left Eye), Glorila wore a sleek silver iridescent look by Bent Kahina and styled by EJ King. From her hair to her figure, Glorila was reminiscent of Lisa, paying tribute to her while exuding nostalgia. Her look was flawless and she definitely got the job done.
- Coco Jones at Lebar Couture
Coco Jones looked stunning on the carpet in a sheer Laver Couture gown. She epitomized fashion elegance and was flawless in everything from her makeup to her glamorous accessories.
- Sabrina Carpenter in Vintage Bob Mackie
Sabrina Carpenter looked like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe or Dolly Parton in this white strapless vintage beaded dress by Bob Mackie. We loved the old Hollywood vibe and her dress was perfect. Overall, 10/10 for Carpenter!
- Halle Bailey in Sophie Couture
Halle Bailey was back in shape since giving birth to baby Halo in December, shining on the red carpet in a crimson Sophie Couture gown. With elaborate cut-outs around the chest, torso and hips, the dress was edgy and accentuated her hourglass figure.
- Taylor Swift appears at Dior Resort ’25
Taylor Swift, who made headlines this week for supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and tying with Beyoncé for being the most decorated MTV Award winner, looked super chic in a yellow Dior Resort ’25 ensemble. The black and yellow plaid dress looked very futuristic and we loved the black cut-out gloves which matched perfectly with her thigh-high leather boots.
- Rashida from Zhivago
Another fashion bomb couple are Love & Hip Hop’s Rasheeda and Kirk, who matched in all-black: Rasheeda opted for a ZHIVAGO suit featuring chain detailing, while Kirk wore a moto-style blazer with quilted leather sleeves, which he paired with black distressed jeans.
- Sierra Gates in CM Studio
Sierra Gate, who appeared representing Love & Hip Hop at the MTV Awards, wore a unique outfit of a blue denim deconstructed top and maxi skirt from the commercial studio. Her denim outfit was unique, original and perhaps unprecedented.
- Katy Perry to star in spring/summer 2025 film “Who Decides War”
Katy Perry attended the MTV Awards with her fiancé Orlando Bloom and the two looked madly in love. Perry made a bold statement in an off-white look for Who Decides War. It was editorial-esque and she looked like she was ready to shoot a music video at any moment. Wet hair added a dramatic vibe to her ensemble and we loved the unfinished and bare-faced look of her ensemble.
