After months of wearing boots (mostly black and neutral), I’m ready to introduce some color to my feet again. When the silhouette becomes lighter and layered, saturated heels or bright flats feel less bold and more natural.
Colorful shoes change the look of everything else you’re wearing. Look down and even the simplest look can wake you up. Crisp shirts and tailored pants, knits and denim, and slip dresses all look sharper with pigment in your shoes.
If you find the color on your feet scary, approach it with balance in mind. Keep your clothes clean. Let your shoes take center stage by pairing them with crisp shirts, tailored trousers, and simple knits. Navy and red pumps. Gray and lilac slingback. Cobalt flat against ivory. Refine your colors as you adjust your lines and control your palette.
If you want something more impactful, add contrasting colors. Blue dress and green heels. Under the striped skirt are pink flat shoes. Citrus and chocolate. It doesn’t have to be an exact match. It just needs to feel consistent.
It’s just an extension of something wearable. After the dark tones of winter are over, the colors feel fresh and expressive, perfect for the warmer months ahead.
