Designed in collaboration with the model and founder of Helsa (a Revolve and FWRD exclusive), Montce combines vintage-inspired details with Elsa’s cool-girl fashion instincts to create a vacation wardrobe ripe with timeless and chic swimwear. “There are many reasons why this partnership feels authentic to us, including the fact that Montse x Elsa feels more like a shared world than a collaboration,” he said. When we spoke to Elsa about the behind-the-scenes story of her collection and asked her about her creative process, it became clear that Grief’s characteristics were spot on. “I’m very visual. Before I design something, I always start with references and build a world. It can be old photographs, colors in nature, textures of fabrics, even architecture. Once you get a feel for it, the details become very specific. It’s instinctive, but it’s also very intentional.” Hertha Founder. About Elsa Hosk’s collection

How were you actually involved in the design process for this collection?

I love Montse’s silhouette. They are feminine, but still strong and confident. So this collaboration was really about refining what was already there. Soften the curves, lower the shoulder straps a little, and adjust the waist position to make it feel more comfortable on your body. Then I started building an atmosphere around those shapes. A tanned cream, a light blue, and a natural floral pattern that looks like something you’ve always seen in a garden.

It’s clear how intentional you are across all your projects, from chic vintage references to niche retro callbacks. It’s on full display here at Montce x Elsa Hosk capsule collection. What was the creative inspiration behind this collaboration?

We shot the collection in Malibu. Malibu is a place I really love. It has a quiet, effortless beauty that always fascinates me. I’m always inspired by vintage European summers, but I like it to be subtle. I wanted it to feel like a natural late summer afternoon. A sculpture swimming against a soft green background. A pale blue that reflects the sky. A cream that seems to disappear in the light. It feels romantic and a bit nostalgic. A little dream-like, but still very real.

How would you describe the colors and patterns found in this romantic collection?

This palette feels very new to me. Cream, pale blue, soft yellow, with a hint of cherry. Romantic, but still strong. It’s not loud, but it’s not shy either. Flowers have their own individuality. Nostalgic and not too sweet.

What is your favorite style from the collection?

Oh, it’s so hard to choose. I really love the entire collection. But right now, I’m particularly drawn to silky creams and blues.

Where does the Montce x Elsa Hosk wearer vacation? The Cote d’Azur, the Amalfi Coast in Montenegro?

all of the above! Cote d’Azur, Amalfi Coast, Swedish Islands. Or just her backyard Los Angeles. She feels summer wherever she goes.

What is your poolside order, beachside reading, and sunscreen choice?

My poolside order now would probably be pistachio gelato and iced cola. Probably my favorite book right now. Wuthering Heights. And sunscreen is also non-negotiable. I always wear SunsolveMD.

What are the non-negotiables when it comes to packing your carry-on baggage?

good skin care. everytime. Oversized sunnies, maybe a few pairs. And for some reason I always have a little toy of Turi tucked away in my bag – I love it!

What are three items that go with your swim/vacation look? Shoes, bags, sunglasses, etc.

Simple leather sandals. Sunglasses, always. And a vintage hat I found along the way.
