I’ve been into glittery things lately, and Sandy Liang is responsible for that. When it comes to my credit card balance, Liang is often at the crime scene, especially now. Last week, I popped into a designer shop in Orchard and spotted Pinky, a light pink metallic pleated skirt, hanging on the rack. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it ever since.

When it comes to fall wardrobe, we don’t usually think of metallics. Instead, I focus on faux fur or pony hair, a cozy texture. But the way Liang styled her skirt really changed my perspective. The model wore open-toed sandals, retired this season, but layered the perfect pink sweater over a collared shirt. From the knees up, I wanted to wear this style for the rest of the season.
I realized the value of adding a little glitter to a classic fall look. The contrasting elements and textures play well with each other and don’t feel like something plucked from a holiday catalogue. Metallics bring something unexpected to your look, while also helping you create a standard sweater and shirt combo. This is literally a little stuffy and a lot of fun.
