We are excited to preview our first production of the year on Friday the 17th. labor of love lost Written by William Shakespeare, directed by Davy Kelleher. The cast is made up of new final year drama students and these productions will be run by stage management and technical drama students.

Weekend audition workshop
December 6th and 7th / December 13th and 14th
In this acting audition workshop, one of Lil’ Academy’s core acting teachers will guide participants in preparing for their audition by carefully selecting their monologues and portraying their characters. Audition Master Class (2 weeks)
November 1st and 2nd, November 8th and 9th
This two-week intensive course is for those who want to learn audition techniques and fully prepare their monologues. The course concludes with a mock drama school audition session to cover common audition presentations, presentation, demeanor and concentration, and to put into practice the skills learned during the course.

Online audition workshop (1 day)
November 22nd
In this acting audition workshop, participants will be guided through the process of preparing for a drama school audition via Zoom by carefully selecting their monologue and developing their characterization. This workshop will be very useful for participants preparing for Lil Academy auditions or other drama schools.

Roger McHugh Scholarship Winner
We are pleased to announce Allie P. O’Neill, Class of 2024 Graduate Student Representative, as the first recipient of the Roger McHugh Scholarship. This scholarship is an award to a Rhyl graduate to support the development of new theatrical work. The game she suggested was Alice, Based on the life of Alice Morton, a woman who fled Ireland in the early 20th century after being accused of adultery.
Blue Hanley, Senegal IMPACT Project
During the summer, our lighting director, Blu Hanley, spent a month teaching lighting in a newly established course at Senegal’s Mondial de Professionnel de Art de la Culture et des Technologies (IMPACT) in Dakar.
IMPACT is a nonprofit organization that supports the development of professional and technical training in the arts and culture fields.

Youth Theater Practice Symposium
Irish Youth Theater Youth Theater Practice Symposium: Finding your true voice will be held at TUD in Dublin on 14th and 15th November and explores how artists discover and celebrate their authentic voices through language, dialect, writing, spoken word, music and theatrical practice.
As part of the event, Shaz Oye, Director of Equality and Access at Rhyl Academy, will host a panel discussion on Saturday 15 November exploring the experiences of young black and mixed race creators in Ireland and considering the role of youth theater in fostering artistic and personal growth.
