The 4th Annual Academy Museum Gala is just around the corner, but before that, you’ll have a chance to watch some of Hollywood’s chicest (and most talented) stars arrive in Los Angeles and walk the red carpet. Tonight’s gala, also known as the “Met Gala of the West Coast,” has a reputation for being one of the most dressed-up red carpet events of the year, and considering the Oscars and Golden Globes are the biggest competitions, that says a lot. I am. And just like these award shows, the Academy Museum Gala is sure to have some bold fashion moments.
If there’s one dominant trend of the night so far, it’s lingerie, from bustiers and corsets to sheer lace and faux thongs. came first bearAyo Edebiri wore a fall/winter ’24 Thom Browne white haute couture dress that featured a drop-waist silhouette and corseted bodice. Kim Kardashian also opted for a bridal-inspired lingerie look, but without the actual dress part. Instead, she wore an all-white satin vintage Thierry Mugler bustier-style bodysuit, which she styled alongside a floor-length duster and nude shoes. a lot Tiffany diamonds.

Selena Gomez took a darker approach to the trend by wearing a navy blue halter neck dress with a black leather bustier peeking out from underneath. Along with that, we added a single wraparound cuff bracelet, a ring, and long drop earrings.

Finally, Kylie Jenner arrived and, as always, her chosen outfit stole the show. The youngest Jenner, who arrived with her sister Kendall (who wore Schiaparelli Spring/Summer ’24 Haute Couture), debuted a gown made of sheer sequins and flesh-colored mesh on the top half. The bottom half showed off a floor-length black skirt with a whale-tail-like mock thong cutout on either hip.
